I'm so late to catch up on this episode, mostly because I've been playing Rebirth and I was a bit sad to see Ash's last podcast episode. I hope she pops in for guest appearances sometimes. 😢 I really love the Mythril Mines in Rebirth. The 2,000 Gil bit was really entertaining and I love jow they aren't just deepening Cloud's relationship with the rest of the party, but their relationships with each other too. I love that Aerith and Tifa have a sweet friendship and tease Cloud. Red XIII and Barrett's relationship is great too. Barret is like the big brother of the group. Whenever he acts all gruff just to show how big uearted and sweet he is for the people he cares about are so well done.

To tie together the 2 themes of the ep; there's an amazing environmental skeley in FFVII Rebirth of a gigantic creature that appears as a fossil in the side of an area in the Canyon. We'll miss you Ash, I've really enjoyed your presence on the channel Nd wish you all the best!! My most impactful video game death is similar in theme, I think, to Ash's. I've been absolutely destroyed by several video game deaths, but the one that's biggest in my mind is in RDR2. And not Arthur, because yeah he does feel inevitable and it fits his story. No what destroyed me specifically was Sean. Because he wasn't just the first gang member you lose, but the framing of it, both in the game as a whole but also in his relationship/interactions with Arthur, was so absolutely sudden and unexpected to me. And the game forces you to move through the shock because of course it is an ambush, you need to get out. Not to mention finding Arthur's journal entry afterwards, about the ambush, and he's describing Shaun as being like an annoying little brother to him.
