They need to give Mary ginger ale. Ginger is literally amazing for nausea and while it's not water, she'll be getting fluids that hopefully won't make her more nauseous.

Peter, what you said about how a lot of life is mundane reminded me of this Brene Brown quote, "Joy comes to us in ordinary moments. We risk missing out on joy when we get too busy chasing down the extraordinary." I think it really captures how the important part of life is the more boring parts of it.

I commented this yesterday but I wanna day it again because I’m hoping it could help you as much as it helps me. I have GI illnesses so nausea is a constant factor to me. On top of doses of anti nausea meds I use peppermint oil to keep nausea at bay. It settles your stomach and it makes me feel a lot better. Anything with peppermint oil really. I use icebreakers cool mint flavor and it is a life saver!! Mints are what make my life bearable I swear. I recommend trying it for your nausea I know how awful it can be ❤️❤️

I've had chronic nausea and I agree, mint helps a lot! Also drinking, even sipping water, and eating small, infrequent meals. I find letting my stomach get completely empty between meals really helps for GI healing.

I agree also with this. I have GI illnesses and I use peppermint oil beadlets from Dõterra, my Mother sells. My GI illness is so bad that I had to have surgery last year due to the stomach acid burning the end of my esophagus. Another thing is I drink ginger tea and take ginger candy. This is along with my prescribed medication.

Sorry but I just have to share this very random and pointless fact, in Norway we have also a version of the name Peter, but it's Petter and pronounced the same as Better but with a P, and in the intro every time the song goes "Don't you think we're better together" it marched perfectly up with Peters name appearing in the screen and I always sing don't you think we're Petter together! Haha I don't know why xD

I absolutely love y’all!!! You seriously have no idea how much you guys encourage me especially with my hubby’s recent Stage 4 Rectal Cancer diagnosis at age 38!!! I did my first pump disconnect today and I was sooo nervous but I rocked it. I prayed first and God covered me completely cause even though I may be well versed in the medical field I’ve had ZERO training and when it’s your spouse it is def more terrifying than if I were doing it on myself. Btw I don’t think I commented yesterday but I LOVED Colby’s song and sent to my hubby as well! Such an amazing inspiration!!!

There is one fortunate thing to be thankful for guys. That you are available fully time Peter, to remain with Mary, while she is in hospital. My poor husband hates being with me in hospital. I am lucky to get a normal daily hour visit. At present I have been recalled to the hospital after a test showed abnormal cells. Just hate the the anxiety of he unknown. Like will it jean more surgery? I have had over 40, so I have stop counting. Unfortunately being in a regional centre, I have to wait till my Specialist flies in. Which is only once a month. This time around must be such a strain on both of you as between your last admission and this one, plus on IV antibiotics at home, in between? It is no wonder you are both exhausted and fed up, it has been so long. Things have to start getting better. I miss your fairy lights on your headboard Mary. Least Peter got your blankets and pillow. Hang in guys. The tide will turn shortly, patience.

Mary, I feel like you with the water, my urologist wants me to drink 3 litres of water a day! All I do is drink drink drink. (and wee wee wee, lol)
@wirinaholstein4076
@wirinaholstein4076 6 жыл бұрын
But thank goodness the urologist is demanding you to drink water and not to control your fluid intake to a minimum. Whenever that happens, and you no longer are allowed to drink more than 400 ml pr day, its because the kidneys are worse and its so hard living with a chronically dry mouth and always be thirsty. Ive heard my mom say that she sometimes almost prefers to just pour herself that glass of water she is so thirsty for and accept that she might die from it because this is unbearable to live with. Personally, I easily drink a gallon a day due to medicine which makes me thirsty and Im sometimes border lining drinking too much as well.

Hope you feel better and that you kidneys start to show recovery signs soon.

Since you have all these issues with the port being annoying and stuff would you ever consider getting a new one I mean I know that that’s probably not how it works but since it’s causing you so many issues do you think they can just place a new one in a different spot

Throwing up, ugh! I hope you are feeling better soon. I hate throwing up in public. It happened to me twice in high school due to a neurological condition. I am still embarrassed. Keep flushing those kidneys. That port needs to start working right. Happy to hear that you slept. AGT, good show. There were a lot of talented people this year. Out with Ollie, he looks happy to run around. Keep trucking along.

I must say, you have above average nurses, I have NEVER felt " cared for" while throwing my guts up! They shove a receptacle in your face and move away. At least that's been my experience. You are very lucky Mary, to have such good care. Do you think your "celebrity " makes them treat you better? I mean, they don't want you talking about a mean nurse on your vlog, right? Just a thought, whatever the reason, I'm glad you have compassionate nurses, I know it can make a difference in how you feel.

Of course, it could be 1000 different things, including the fact that Mary might be choosing to not mention the occasional nurse who might be having a bad day (or something) and happens to be _that mean nurse_ that we all dread... but I'll speculate a couple of reasons as to why she always seems to have "above average nurses": 1. When she's inpatient, she's staying in a children's hospital, so there's a decent chance that the nurses on the floor are generic child / adolescent nurses. I might be wrong, BUT something tells me that a nurse that works with kids is going to have difficulty keeping a job is they have the reputation of being the mean, scary nurse. (FWIW, I'd argue that Mary's primary diagnosis could be very easily classified into the category of "childhood diseases", so it does makes sense for her to be in a children's hospital.) 2. Mary ALWAYS brings her own "help" (usually in the form of Peter) with her to the hospital. Put yourself in the nurse's position for two seconds, and (from a purely selfish standpoint) this one should make a lot of sense -- _every single little mundane thing_ that Peter is able to help Mary with is something that the nurse doesn't have to drop what their doing, and help Mary with. In other words, from the nurses' perspective, Mary is an "easy patient" who they know is NOT going to be needy and annoying (to them). And the sad reality is that when a hospital is understaffed and nurses are underpaid, almost EVERY adult patient is probably going to be labeled needy and annoying IF they hit the call button more than occasionally. =(

Sunglasses Girl I can't disagree with anything you've said. I think the fact she's in a children's hospital is the biggest factor. Only a very special nurse could work with seriously ill children. When I've been in patient, I've had my spouse at my side 24/7 , frankly it's not safe to be in the hospital alone. My husband tended to every single of my mundane needs. The only thing I needed the nurse to do was administer my medications. And that's ALL she did. Believe me, I totally understand about being short staffed. I think Mary is very lucky to have good compassionate nursing care.

_frankly it's not safe to be in the hospital alone_ That's my experience, too. Because when call buttons get ignored, you MIGHT need the person that you brought with you for the purpose of 'babysitting the happenings of the hospital' to go pace outside your door for 30+ minutes until ones of the nurses figures out that you are already 30+ minutes overdue for your next dose of pain-reliever for that major surgery that you had yesterday. I was 18 at the time, and I'm pretty sure that those nurses were very lucky that my mom is pretty good about biting her tongue (in the moment)... If someone wanted to know how the USA treats its sickest / most chronically ill / most disabled people, I think your statement (italicized) sums it up pretty well...

Speaking of anti-nausea meds, I gotta stop being so lazy, & go to the gastric doctor, for some refills of Zofran, otherwise & super randomly, I get horrific & debilitating nausea; w/out it, Pepto, curled up into the fetal position, & 4-5 HOURS later, I'll start to feel better. During such episodes, I have to hold still & not open my mouth, or jostling/mouth open, is a direct invite for barfing up all my insides. Yummy I'm sorry, I just remembered I gotta get some more, or else
