Back in the hospital for a few days, due to my GI issues. the sort-of-diagnosis I got eventually, which seems to be quite accurate, is a bit hilarious...

As a hospice nurse I am a fierce advocate for adequate pain control. Pain IS THE 5TH VITAL SIGN, LISTEN TO YOUR PATIENTS. We have gone so far the other way in pain management, patients know what their pain is, especially patients who are in end stage disease. 😓 drs and nurses working with or meeting a patient in end stage disease in the ER, etc, LISTEN TO THEM. HEAR THEM.

Nancy Beveridge Taylor I’m a nurse as well and when I worked in the ER, I listened to my patients and fought for them. I have MS, osteoporosis, asthma and SVT. I’ve had a lot of pain along with dozens of ortho surgeries on bilateral legs, Achilles’ tendon and cervical spine ( as well as c sections and other abdominal surgeries). I’ve been blessed to have a team of docs who’ve listened to my complaints and took it serious. One example was: I was in the hospital for a severe MS flare up. I started having more pain in my lumbar area that was out of the norm from what I’d been experiencing. I KNEW something was wrong but wasn’t quite sure what it was. I asked my Neurologist to run an MRI of my full spine to see if I had new lesions. I thought perhaps that was it. I just really felt that they would find something. He did run a full MRI and they discovered I had an emergent cervical spine issue. I had 2 fully herniated disc in my neck and was leaking spinal fluid. I had to have emergency surgery. My ortho surgeon stated that if I’d have fallen or made a wrong move, I’d have been paralyzed. I have the most amazing surgeon and he’s performed life saving surgeries on me through the years. He’s also ALWAYS been right on top of my pain and helped me so much. I loved your response and that you advocate for your patients. God bless you!

Sweet Nancy, God bless you. Now that Covid has entered our lives, I have been through no pain relief or no treatment as patients used to receive. I'm not really addressing this towards you but it's not fair to those who are suffering and can't get our attention. Keep being a great RN. I'm a RN as well but can't work anymore. It really sucked this was the last video she filmed before dying weeks later. She was so optimistic and brave despite her cancer being terminal. I can understand why she didn't want anyone to worry and to be hopeful. Cancer in general sucks. Considering that she got diagnosed late and after it spread to other organs, there was no chance for her to beat this awful cancer, death was her destiny. The doctors tried. She was only 34 too. I'm glad she's been pain free for four years. R.I.P.

I am so glad that seeing my perspective as a patient is helpful for you as you work on your medical career! That gives me a lot of happiness. I fully appreciate doctors are overloaded and get to a point of having little capacity for personal attention, but having said that being clinically diligent does not have much to do with that and it is so important to bear in mind the way patients feel and how important it is to listen to them as part of a treatment plan. And even more so, inform them well. my next vlog will illuminate a lot of the communication errors made which took away all my empowerment and decision making ability as a patient simply because I was left in the dark about what was *really* going on.

The pressure from the fluid made it difficult to eat or breathe. Once the fluid was drained he felt much better. This is just his story with a different cancer. Thank you very much, as a mother I can not tell you how broken I'm, my life is gone to, Christine was a wonderful human been, the most caring person I have met, she was a beautyful inside out with a big honest heart, her birthday will be on Feb 10, it will be extremely hard for me to walk alone again to her grave.

Carmen Buske hi Carmen, I cannot imagine the hurt you feel having lost your beloved daughter. I’ve lost three relatives to cancer but they were uncles and aunts. It was hard but again not the same. May the Good Lord bless you with strength and comfort during the hard times, and joy and smiles in the easier moments. May she reside where the saints repose. Memory eternal + So sorry Carmen.

@@SaffronGold Thank you very very much for your message, I wish I could believe there is more after dead, just can not believe, why would that good God or Goodman above let my daughter suffered so so very much in her short life, she could not drink a sip of water of 6 months or eat one single spoon of food, how can that good Man let this happen??? I just can not believe there is something more, unfortunately.

Carmen Buske I get what you are saying. This is a journey only you can take and I say that respectfully. I have no doubt your daughter moved mountains in this world through touching lives, every experience touched someone somehow. She touched my life through her story and I never met her. I believe we are tools. We are fallen by nature. I’m not a theologian but I believe God does not intervene always, sometimes though because I have seen it. As a son of a 9th generation Orthodox Christian priest from Jerusalem, I didn’t find Him until I was in my 20s. I went to seminary and would have been a 10th generation from the holy land but I was born in America and very hard to give up earthly cares for such a task. Just know people like myself are praying for you. I hope you obtain comfort. Forgive me if I was out of line. My heart breaks for you but know you are in my prayers.

Thank you very much, i can not tell you how bad I'm doing, just totally broken, and never will smille, never can I live, Christine was my world, was all I had, no familie left, nobody to support me, nobody to walk with me to her grave, tomorrow she would be 36 years old and I walk again alone to her grave, she have deserved so much better. thank you

If feels like the doctors weren't telling her just how bad things were. Her liver was obviously failing, she has ascites and jaundice.

See her other videos. She did not want to know the reality of her situation.

I don't really see the jaundice

After cancer is metastasized, why must every contact from a doctor be more and more depressing till all joy is crushed? American medicine is like that - it makes sure to crush the patient, till depressing the patient completely is finally accomplished. Depressing the patient, I believe, rushes the patient toward death.
@Phoenix_Atlas2 жыл бұрын
@@sarita3337 that's bullshit. It's important to know exactly how bad the shape you're in is. I had cancer, almost died, and my doctor's tried withholding information from me "for my own wellbeing". You have no idea how bad that pissed me off.
@Phoenix_Atlas2 жыл бұрын
She's not jaundiced and dying from acute liver failure is a lot worse than this and the jaundice will usually be very pronounced.
