Thanks for the great review! I’m glad you like it. The metric fuel economy is displayed in “litres per 100 kilometres” On the driving page you can toggle individual values between US and Metric units by clicking on the displayed Speed, any of the Temperatures, Boost/Rail pressure, and Economy. The choice is stored in the EEPROM so is persistent across a power cycle. The “4” on the “Details” page is indeed the cumulative estimated fuel consumed, taken from the fuel economy calculation (estimated from MAF and O2 sensor data) Gallons (litres) in the tank is pulled directly from the ECM’s live data. The RPM In / RPM out and Torque in/out are across the torque converter, as is Slip. The log file can only be enabled if the SD card is inserted. When on the Setup/clock page the logger cycles continuously, writing a record every two seconds or so. On the driving or details pages the log is timed to write every five seconds, but only commits (syncs) to the card every 30 seconds unless you turn off logging which closes the log file. This means you lose the last couple of log entries when you power off the unit, but the commit (sync) takes a full half second and noticeably slows the display if sync’d after each log entry is written to the card. -dave

nautamaran - Dave, I looked at the thread on Sprinter Forum. What is your status on making these?
@nautamaran4 жыл бұрын
Sorry - I don’t check in here very often. I’m still making these (wiring them by hand in my basement) with about 30 orders pending at the moment. Please reach out via the Sprinter forum if you’d like more information. -dave

Glad you enjoy it...it's one of our favourite tools for our T1Ns. Nautamaran also appears to be working with other users to add support for OM612 Sprinters.

The brown thing below the power switch is a CdS photo resistor. It’s wired to pin A15, with a 5v feed and 10k pull-down resistor. The original plan was to use it to use it with controllable PWM back-lighting, but the affordable LCD panels don’t give you that. I explored dimming the colour, though that costs a full screen redraw whenever the ambient light changes. Then I ran short of SRAM on the Arduino and had to get stingier with features. The Mega has 256k of flash for static features (I’m using about half of that), but only 8k for runtime variables, and the GUI is a bit of a hog... after startup there’s only about 500 bytes of free RAM for the stack and heap. So at the moment the sensor doesn’t control anything in the software, but it’s there if you ever want to play with the source code. -dave

Hi @Nautamaran. What are the steps to purchase this box? Do I email you?

Yes. Send your request to nautamaran@gmail.com -dave

One more thing: the Speed Calibration value is a MULTIPLIER, not an “offset”. So the default 1.040 value increases all the displayed speeds by 4% (which makes my van’s stock wheels bang on)

Occasionally one will come up second hand, available in the groups and forums. Last I heard the maker had a waiting list as long as Santa's Naughty List.

Very good review! I like how it tells you how many litres remain in the tank Does this box also work with all Sprinters? I have a 2016 Sprinter. Thanks in advance :-)

Sorry, it does not. There was talk of an NCV3 version, but I don't know if it ever came to light.

Well, I do not own one of these vans, nicked named "murderer's vans" by a certain UK driving show, however, I have been lucky enough to be a regular passenger in the original "murderer's van" while Mr. Dave was developing this - you should see the dragons! I can attest to the high degree of thought and optimisation that I have seen Dave put into this project, that has grown and developed a life of its own. Is pretty neat, and Jaques Cousteau would have been proud of the ingenuity displayed here.

How do you get one ??? Thx !

You'd need to time-travel to get one now, or find a used one that somebody is willing to part with. They were made by an individual working from his garage.
