The little touch of the drive exhaust melting/warping a couple of pieces of the scaffolding and heating others orange-hot was outstanding.

Also notice that on the return trip, one of the tugs gets a little to close to the Nauvoo’s engines and burns up in its exhaust plume.

Still fails to do it's job as a warship, as the moment it goes combat mode, power goes off. This ship was designed to hold a colony, not a colony + torpedoes + PDCs, that's just asking for trouble in it's already overworked reactor that was designed for it's original purpose. It doesn't have enough juice. What are you going to do about it? Cut propulsion? Or cut Life Support just so you can fire your guns while being a sitting duck to even the most pathetic warship UNN can bring from it's Arsenal. Rocinante will dance around this and not miss a single railgun.

The detail of the swarm of rocket drones that act as "tugs" is really cool. And the coolest thing is that it is plausible, logical and could possibly be applied in real life. The hard science of this show is what makes it more delightful to watch.

I'm just now watching this show and was confused on why it was adrift in season 3. Why didn't the mormons contract to have it brought back? I didn't even realize it was abandoned until OPA went back to salvage it.

Remember that the Nauvoo was the largest ship ever constructed at the time, and somewhat unfinished. Recovering it was a feat that required resources and equipment that only Tycho could provide. Plus, it's clear Fred and the OPA included a backup navigation protocol that would cut the burn in the event of a miss and place the ship into a recoverable solar orbit, the location of which they kept to themselves.

Three months later. But I picture believing Mormons being unhappy with the way the theology is treated. But if you can stand the play "Book of Mormon" with a tongue in cheek and not worry about potential areas of being offended, this is one of the better sci-fi shows around right now.

One of the best executed scenes in SciFi history. The choice to show us the entire 3 minute launch makes it so much more than run of the mill Starship porn. Not that I mind a little ship porn from time to time. But hearing the dialogue that would be right at home now coming of NASA speakers makes it feel bigger and more grounded. Plus the ship survives after all. Spoiler alert. but she survives.

@@Necrotias Its skipping and stuttering cutting off ends of scenes. However I just realised it may be intentional to try and avoid the copyright detection on youtube. Lol dont worry I have kinda got used to it now, I watch this often. However you can see the stuttering during scene transitions (well its more like a hard cut, not a stutter) so if you are not doing it on purpose you may want to check your encoder is working as you expect. As an example @0:25 the docking mechanism retracts and you can see a jump where its lost frames. These jumps crop up through the whole video.
