I would love to see more of this as well as a bit of a guide on how to do everything you're doing catering to newbies or players like myself who haven't played in about 3-4 years and have forgotten how everything works. There seems to be very little on youtube to help ease newcomers into the game. P.S. I hope you will be able to go into more explanation about what things are you're talking about like how to do the tutorial and how to pick a server and more basic stuff for the many watching that are lost at sea so to speak with many of the terms used. For example I have no idea what the rewards from the tutorial are even used for

Agreed on the wood builds. I have been doing the same with Redeeming my DLC's. I have in the past have always had good luck with Teak/Teak and LO/WO. But you are right, they have shaken things up in many areas besides Woods. Keep Sailing Mate! o7

TY for the video. I was expecting a "get started" video but this is not that. The title was a bit misleading, but I do see your perspective, perhaps documenting your efforts after a recent wipe. Sadly, I was more confused after watching than before. The parts you skipped are the parts that fill in the holes I felt I needed to see. How you got the first bit of cash for example. And the DLC stuff is not in my wheelhouse (pun intended) yet. No matter. I will give it more time to figure things out.

I just came back to the game after a few years gone. It took me a few days to get back into it. I'm still not quite back to the mastry level I once was. They changed the effectiveness of double charge on cutting masts and the effectiveness of grape shot raking shots. Those are annoying as I feel they were very realistically balanced. But raking shots with standard shot, that surprised me as it still doesn't wipe out crew but it absolutely guts the hull and sinks the ship, also demasts the ship too in spite of the fact the masts are thickest at the deck level. It's like the devs flipped the masts stength upside down. Still fun though.

Your video is wonderful and you do an amazing job explaining everything. That being said, having tried this game several times I have come to the conclusion it was made for 85 year old men. Too much going on with not any of it being really meaningful and all of it taking forever. I'll still watch though because highlights are entertaining.

It's a fairly complex game, and it's designed to be like that, that's true. I think it appeals most to people who are interested in naval history and simulations. That being said, you can play it more casually once you've learned the basics.

one thing i used to do back when i did play this game, i did buy everything that would sell for a good price. and just have stock piles so i could just go in and grab. but i normaly had trade routs back and forwords to the same towns.

Pirates are appealing to everyone who doesn't have his nation represented in Naval Action. The british, spanish and french will always get people from areas where their languages are the mother tongue. If they added the US or the Dutch instead of Pirates to the seasonal server I think the population would be more equally spread out.

Yeah, that makes sense. And I agree that if any more nations are to be added, it should be the Dutch and Americans. It would balance out the map nicely, as those areas are pretty empty right now.

@@kairos468 Btw can you make a video focused on trade? Trade used to be very different back in the day when I played but now I just don't quite get it. I mean some ports can let you build sugar and hemp plantations. But the only way I saw to get specific woods is with naval service medals and you can invest those apparently. No idea how I can get my hands on those medals because I don't have the time to grind them...

I just started on the Caribbean server after a year long break from Naval Action and made over 500k meals by attacking 2 trader snows and 1 trader brig and selling what I was able to carry off.

Excellent videos, your manner and content delivery is enjoyable. I would join if no wipes. Too many other great games to play than deal with that unfortunate design decision. If the PVE / PVP servers open to new folks, I'd jump in. I'd joyfully pay for that feature. PVP question. Can players of same faction attack you or is it only opposing factions that PVP happens. It makes PVP more palatable if you were safe around fellow faction players and fought only opposing factions, which makes sense to me. Thanks for vids!

I am pretty sure they did away with same nation attacks a while ago. They did add safe zones ie no PVP on certain areas of the map. Also they did not wipe XP.

You may not be entering the names of trade items in the search properly. That's all I can think of that might be causing them to not show up.

Hello. The game kept appearing on my radar for quite a while, but there's a lot of drama and lack of consensus about its state and direction at the moment, and it seems to be pivoting a lot lately. So what would be your take on the situation, given you've been inside things for some time now? Are the things really looking uncertain or is it just the old crowd complaining about the game moving in the new direction? I'm trying to gauge what my expectations should be.

There is some truth to the objections, certainly. The developers almost destroyed their own game by releasing a string of terrible updates last year. However, they seem to have genuinely learned from their mistakes and improved things a lot since then, and as long as you don't mind playing a game with seasonal wipes, it's definitely worth playing now in my opinion. Just don't buy any DLC until you're certain it's the game for you.

Good luck with that let's play if you do get around to making it. There aren't nearly enough Naval Action content creators active right now. And I'm always happy to sail with fellow pirates. I only play on the seasonal server these days; you should be able to find me there.

15:20 - Exactly! The safety zones are far too big. It's kinda boring, if there is almost no risk. The other way round, it's not worthy getting out for a gank, as you will barely find attractive "victims", cause everyone hovers around in the safety zones...😉

I believe ships during the Napoleonic era with between 32-44 guns were classified as 5th rates. So I think L'Hermione would be considered a small 5th rate frigate at the time.

For Port de Paix, try Port de Pet without saying the T , Port de Pe would be wrong, the sound you re looking for is really Pet without pronouciating the T, hope this help.

KairoS i love your videos and naval action is one of my dream games kinda. it is like an advanced Port royal 2 and i love it .I want to play it really bad! BUT the current state of the game is shocking me. I informed myself over the patches and developers decisions and they are so bad that it is unplayable for me. I dont want to play just to get fucked over and over and over again. Also it is redicolous how expensive the ships are while beeing historical INACCURATE. I think this is a really good good game, but the dev's decisions are utterly bad and will kill it over long time. for sure. too early wipes. too unfair. too much pay2win and that while it is a great game it makes me really really sad ...... maybe u can easy my mind but atm im sad because of this.. the steam reviews tell also some storys :/

The Port de paix, mean Port of peace. Its hard to tell you how to pronounce it, I think you could use google translate and listen to the voice. I'm a French Canadian so English and French is easy for me. I think you could pronounce it like this : ''Por the pay'' not exactly right but close.

Little tip. Don’t spend so much time in game menus. I tried to watch but every time I sped through you were still on the menu. Maybe start with gameplay for the first few minutes Not really offering much to watch. Just a thought.

I bought the game pre f2p and the devs killed game. It’s a very slow Grindy game and why anyone would do that on Caribbean server only for it to be wiped every few months is beyond me. You just to be able to build and trade In peace server but even though online number were low 200/300 it down to 50-90 now. No one builds hey removed all the seeded trade items from ports - so if you got a fleet of 4 indianmen ships they pointless now as nothing to trade - the dlc’s are a joke - like £25 just to change name, ships that have no use in game, paints they just change the set wood colour on sides only and flags that don’t even show when sailing world (only in battles). The graphics and battles had promise they just totally messed up any reason to play the game?

Even today in both Spain and South America when they refer to the English in general it is accompanied by the word pirate: "Ingleses piratas"
