Please note that as of the June 2022 update some of the stats shown in this video may have changed. HP and amour will have been especially effected by this patch.

For beginners. Here are some simple wood combinations. Fast and light at the top. Heavy and slow at the bottom. Fir/Fir Bermuda Cedar/Bermuda Cedar Mahogany/Sabicu Teak/Teak Teak/Sabicu Live Oak/White Oak Locust/Sabicu

Speaking of HMS Trincomalee, you can visit the real ship at the National Museum of the Royal Navy in Hartlepool, England. Quite a few fellows in NA had went with the Trincomalee's historic build, which was an all-teak one.

Nice informative video. One question regarding the Teak/Sabicu; Teak/White Oak builds. Using the netlify NA map ship comparison tool i found the if i reverse the builds, i.e. doing Sabicu(S)/Teak(S) instead of Teak(S)/Sabicu(S) i get a very solid HP increase (~11%) for a very tiny los in thickness (~1%) and some los in turn acceleration. So as new player i wonder why giving up those HP, when one can compensate that tiny los in thickness with a tiny amount more angling? Same goes for WOs/Ts vs Ts/WOs.
@kairos4682 жыл бұрын
I just checked my shipyard for you, and with a Trincomalee you get +2073 HP and +18 thickness on the sides with Teak (S)/Sabicu (S). You get +2172 HP and +17 thinkness with the Sabicu (S)/Teak (S). You do get a good bonus to hull HP, but your main mast thinkness drops to +12. So I don't think reversing the woods is worth it given those stats.
@kairos4682 жыл бұрын
WOs/Ts doesn't seem to give you any bonus to side HP at all, but will increase your hull HP. It is also lower in thinkness than Ts/WOs. You could try the extra hull HP, but I'd probably go for the thickness.
@agathosflightschool38752 жыл бұрын
@@kairos468 As said i am new and was just wondering. Main mast thickness is a thing i didnt really factor in yet, cause AI doesnt tend to try to demast you. In the end i might actually go for Ts/Ts with maximum speed, turn accel and thickness.
@kairos4682 жыл бұрын
@@agathosflightschool3875 It's good to experiment, and Ts/Ts is still a good build.

Hi Sir, new to this channel!!! I have a Victory which is Live Oak/Sabicu. Is it also a good combination for fighting against other 1st Rates??
@kairos468 Жыл бұрын
Yes, that should be fine if you're careful. It's not the most tanky ship possible, but a good all-round build.

Nice. But where to take rare woods like African Oak, Malabar Teak, Greenheart..... ?
@kairos4682 жыл бұрын
In all honesty I've not had much experience with rare woods. I always just put them on contract. But the Netlify website I've linked in the description should help you out.

You get the skins from the ship painter dlc. It has to be purchased to unlock. And sorry for the delayed reply, KZbin often doesn't send me notifications.

Is this still up to date? I'm looking at the Wood charts for planking and frame and I just get soO confused. Teak there doesn't really have that much of a bonus for HP or Amour, Oak or Live Oeak seems much better. I'm new soo I don't really know how the chart works. An update would be nice.
@kairos468 Жыл бұрын
It's probably not up to date enough to be more than a general guide, but most of the builds I show here should still be viable even if they aren't meta anymore. Hopefully I'll get around to making an update at some point

Wood drops at most ports these days for a pretty reasonable price. You can also earn wooden chests by doing hunt missions, which will reward you with seasoned or rare woods.

Just a question, but what build for the trin would be a good build to take on a Diana?
@kairos4682 жыл бұрын
If you're planning on capturing a Diana, or AI ships in general, I personally would take a Locust/Sabicu or a Live Oak/Teak with boarding and reload mods.

Speaking as someone who enjoys the gameplay, but struggles with having the time and energy to INVEST into this game, would you have any advice for me? I genuinely want to enjoy Naval Action, but sticking with a group has proven so hard to do as the player base dries up. I've considered offering to help some friends into it, but I'm leery of involving friends in a game that might only have a few years of life left to it.
@kairos4682 жыл бұрын
Well I would advise trying different activities that you think you'd enjoy solo. In my case it was crafting and trading that made the game fun even when nobody was around. Joining a Discord community if you haven't already might also help you find other players to interact with. That's all I can think of at any rate.

What do you think about Malabar teak for the Christian
@kairos4682 жыл бұрын
I've never crafted with Malabar teak, so I couldn't really judge. I'd say it would probably be a good option for a Christian though, especially if you can angle to bounce shots.

What about Greenheart?
@kairos4682 жыл бұрын
I've never used greenheart myself. I think it's a heavier wood, but you'll have to check the Netlify site to find a good build of it.
