My Grandfather was one of the people who drove in these boats. He unfortunately passed away on the 6th November this year. You can see him at 0:59 in the blue jumper. He loved doing this and talked about it everyday we visited him.

I remember when we were still very young, our parents took my brother and I to Scarborough during the school holidays. We had a fantastic time there [although the Yorkshire weather was decidedly 'cool' to be honest!] One of the biggest highlights during our stay was watching a re-enactment of the 'Battle of the River Plate'. It was so thrilling and realistic - at least for back then. Such simple times - everyone dressed smartly, neat haircuts and no dreadful mobile phones disturbing the performance. What I would give to go back.
