I was a plane captain on F14s back in 1999. That was not fun. As usually the jet would break half way through the launch and I would be standing for an hour waiting for the mechs to fix the damn thing.

Habit of mine: every time I see or hear the words “navy” and “captain”, I automatically think O-6/Full Bird.

Totally professional, totally safety-minded guy and an Airman/Plane Captain. Good to know we have such intelligent humans working on this equipment. I’d feel safe if, in a scramble, he said the plane was good to go. So many good people in the USA military. This guy should feel very proud having the authority to make a go/no-go decision to operate a $80 million piece of hardware. It’s as simple as that.

That's an interesting definition of captain, not seen that one before. To me the captain of an aircraft is the guy sat in the hot seat making the decisions. I was hoping for a role swap or something where the aircrew are trying to do the shooters job or something lol

When I was a plane captain launching out EA-6Bs we put a lot more into it. Even went as far as putting individual flair on the launch sequence we did. Looked a lot better than just going through the motions.

Lot's of know-it-alls and wanna be's are bagging on the young man...ASSuming this was the whole video..."I'll take poor assumptions for $500, Alex..."
Skipped the whole launch. So much more goes into it than that. His speech for the pilot was garbage. Thats not the hydraulic pressure he's checking and all around a trashy performance. Pull the qual and go back to being a trainee.
