Meet Jessica Frew, a recent graduate from Gallaudet University, who majored in sign language interpretation. Frew spent the summer at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division participating in the Naval Research Enterprise Internship Program (NREIP), fulfilling her internship requirements for her Master's degree while working with Carderock’s four, full-time staff interpreters. NREIP is a ten-week, paid internship program that places undergraduate and graduate students in Department of Navy laboratories, where they are engaged in naval research and projects for the summer. Carderock fosters a fun, one-of-a-kind work atmosphere where brilliant minds can flourish and push the limits of the possible. Carderock also houses some of the nation's most advanced facilities for research, development, testing, and evaluation. These resources, spread across its headquarters and seven detachments, give the Navy a clear edge in creating the next generation of surface ships and submarines. (U.S. Navy video by Kristin Behrle)
