MAD Lax dude I can help you by telling you how the application process is like and the mistakes I made so you don’t have to repeat them. If you’re gonna go for USNA the hustle starts now always strive to get straight A’s go do one AP class a year and do dual enrollment to make yourself stand out. If your school has JROTC go be part of that as well it’ll give you a familiarity about the military and leadership skills. Try to do as many extra curricular activities like clubs or sports or even getting a job. By your junior year I recommend studying and taking the SAT and ACT (optional to apply for the summer seminar over there that can help your chances). During the summer before your senior year start the application cause it’s a long process and also look for nominations from a congressman (which they also have a whole other application before you get nominated). Don’t slack on anything just keep pushing. I wish I had someone to tell me this because I always doubt myself that I wouldn’t make it since it’s so competitive and I knew nothing about the process but my senior year I realize I can actually do it and have really good chance to make it because the things I did in HS was too late. But it’s okay I plan on reapplying in the future at least I know the process and right now make myself a better candidate. But yeah strive for it and always have a plan b such as enlisting and reapply or go through ROTC in college and OCS

Your videos are great!! My son is a junior in high school and taking calls from an academy swim team coach. We are trying to figure out what the Academy is all about. In which ways it is different, better (or not), and worth it. Anything that would give us a clear understanding of what it is to be on the swim team would be awesome!
@navalaviation4 жыл бұрын
It all depends on what you are looking for. These academies are definitely not for everyone as it is not your normal college. It takes a lot for someone to commit to a place that limits your free time and simply the fun life of being a college student. Any one of the five military academies will take an athlete to the next collegiate level of competition. The academies treat their athletes very well, comparable to any other collegiate team. But the academies are different in that they hold the same mission: to graduate officers that are ready to lead troops into the works of our Country. If your son is willing to take on that responsibility while taking on the load of being a varsity athlete, I can guarantee you that he will not regret it in the long run. Hope this helps. What kind of extra curricular activities look good for the academy? I'm asking as a sophomore in high school with my eyes set on Navy.
@navalaviation4 жыл бұрын
Get involved in a club that sincerely interests you. The Academy loves community service ECA's but just invest into a club that you can see yourself doing for all four years in high school. I was personally a founder for a Cycling club and an officer for 6 other clubs at my school. Getting to a leadership position in a club will take you far in the application process.

Do I need to be in AP or IB classes to get into USNA. What type of classes were you in?
@navalaviation4 жыл бұрын
AP and IB always looks good no matter what college you're looking at. Both are accepted by USNA. I took about 10 AP classes in high school and no IB's. Challenge yourself by taking as much AP's as you can but I tell people to only take it if you can guarantee yourself an A or B in the class. C's and below don't look good.

can you choose to be a naval aviator?
@kaitlynnsteelman1340 Жыл бұрын
In your senior year you can put in your top choices for service selection, then in November of your senior year you will find out what job you will have. As long as you have good grades and good scores on the physical tests you have a pretty high chance of getting your first or second choices. So in a way you can choose to be a naval aviator.
@jsusna19728 ай бұрын
@@kaitlynnsteelman1340 When I was there (Class of '72), the thing that disqualified most mids from being able to become pilots was poor eyesight. If they were dead set of flying, then they could go NFO (Naval Flight Officer). I am unaware of the current eyesight guidelines.
