MBDA is probably one of the most successful European military and civilian partnership that works well.

When you compare what they can get done for a fraction of the budget spent over in America, it's pretty amazing stuff.

Could that guy word salad any better about sea serpent?? That was top level “talk for 5 mins and say nothin”

He'll fit right in at the MOD, I've never heard people talk about so much but deliver so little.

FCAS W... Because we need a 3rd FCAS acronym to make things more confusing. It would be interesting to know what they class as a "smart" missile.

Sea Serpent certainly looks like a strong contender for the RN's I-SSGW requirement. Hopefully a decision is made soon.
@AB-gi3qy3 жыл бұрын
@Varangian Guard I think all the options look pretty good and at this point any of them would be a big upgrade over the current harpoon. The NSM does have a much shorter range and warhead than the some of the other choices so it'll be interesting to see what the RN go for.
@AB-gi3qy3 жыл бұрын
@Varangian Guard That is true but I can't see the MOD fitting it to any other platforms than the Frigates. So one question I do have is if the missiles are sea skimming and fly very low level, is there actually any benefit to having stealth?

As far as I know the SPEAR 3 (1:41) is still in development and will not be operational until 2025.

Interesting though that the "Sea Ceptor" (which I thought was just a Royal Navy term) is displayed in a quad-packed configuration from what looks to be a representation of a mk 41 VLS cell. I wonder if this is a reference to how the missiles will be carried on Royal Navy ships...
@davidhouseman43283 жыл бұрын
More likely representative of it being a sales event so showing different possibilities. 26 and 31 plans are to have them in there own cells.
@sergarlantyrell78473 жыл бұрын
@@davidhouseman4328 I was mostly thinking about the Type 45s but I've been trying to find official confirmation that that's the case for some time, but the best I've found are renders & the only one of those that depict individual cells is for the T31 & that only has 12 cells, not the 24 its meant to have.

If I am building a frigate, I want 8 anti ship missiles and I have to pick amongthe Sea Serpent, NSM and the Exocet MM40 Block IIIc, which one should I pick and why?
@loyalist57362 жыл бұрын
Not exocet as it can't attack land targets.
@IMAN7THRYLOS2 жыл бұрын
@@loyalist5736 I thought that the latest versions of the Exocet can hit land targets. Regardless, I am building a frigate, not a destroyer. For land attack, the Vulcano is good enough. My focus is on an antiship missile. Which one of these above would be the best choice for ASuW and why?
@loyalist57362 жыл бұрын
@@IMAN7THRYLOS Thats new to me it hitting land targets, which one would I pick and why ...I'd pick none of the above I would go for LRASM and I'd pick this system because it can out reach other systems on the market and it is a very smart missile.
