A music concert NADHAANUBHAVA was organised by Nadha Foundation at Sanskriti Hall, S-VYASA Campus, Bengaluru on October 29, 2023.
Renowned Tabla player and Guru, Pt Gurumurthy Vaidya, founder of Nadha Foundation encourages his disciples to regularly organise and participate in music concerts, as these activities enhance and enrich their art experience. The disciples not only get an opportunity to perform but also get to deepen their knowledge and add value to their learning by watching, listening and experiencing music rendered by renowned artists who are invited to perform, along with Gurumurthy Sir himself on the Tabla.
The first performance of the day - ‘Tirbhuja Vija’ was an enthralling tabla rendition by Sri Parikshit and Sri Sriharsha, who have been learning tabla under the guidance of Pt Gurumuthy Vaidya for over a decade now. They performed a jugalbandi in teentaal. Sri Bhargav Rao provided lehra on the harmonium. They began with peshkar, followed by tishra kayda, chatushra kayda, rela, gat muhkdas, chakradhars and paran. Sri Gurumurthy Vaidya appreciated their dedication and commitment to the art form, despite one being a full-time student (pursuing a Masters degree in Germany) and the other an IT Professional. He urged his other students to manage time efficiently and pursue art/classical music along with academics.
The next performance was ‘Navaneeta Lahari’ - by an ensemble of 8 young disciples and Sri Bhargav Rao on harmonium. Their attire- colourful pagdi (turban) with peacock feathers added extra charm to their performance, making them look like little ‘Kirshnas’ performing tabla! They rendered over 40 variations of kaydas in Teen Taal.
The guest artist of the day, Sri Raghunandan Bhat, a renowned Hindustani Vocalist and Music Composer, captivated the audience with his melodious rendition. He began with Raag Shudh Saarang in Dhrut teental, followed by a beautiful thumri, along with Sri Gurumurthy Vaidya on Tabla.
Before moving on to the next rendition, Sri Raghunandan explained to all tabla learner the importance of providing ‘saath’ to a vocalist/ instrumentalist. He explained how the tabla / any percussion instrument not only provides the rhythm or taal but enhances their rendition by providing varying patterns/ syllables in tandem and in accordance with the musician's rendition, in turn making it a joyful experience for the musicians as well as the rasikas/ audience. He explained how the singer and Tabla player are interdependent and how they complement each other. Along with Sri Gurumurthy Vaidya he demonstrated the same, He concluded his performance with a soulful rendition of the popular Marathi bhajan ‘Ranga Yeyivo’. He was ably accompanied by Sri Roopak Vaidya and Sri Kaushik Bhat on Tabla and Sri Krishnananda Prabhu on Harmonium.
The concert was attended by over 60 disciples and a total of 100 members in all. The delicious and sumptuous lunch, provided after the concert, was generously sponsored by Dr Shree Varaprasad. The audience left with their hearts, mind and soul filled with ananda/ joy after such an enriching experience at Nadhaanubhava.
