It is very interesting you were able to feel the myriad emotions in this - 'Navarasam' in indian literature and in classical art forms are the 9 emotions of Shringara (love/beauty), Hasya (laughter), Karuna(sorrow), Raudra (anger), Veera (heroism/courage), Bhayanaka (terror/fear), Bibhatsa (disgust), Adbutha (surprise/wonder), and Shantha (peace or tranquility). Like, when people perform Indian classical music, each raga (very simplistically, certain scales/set of notes) can be performed in a different way when the artiste focuses on one of these 9 emotions to display through their performace. Thaikkudam Bridge has focused on making the audience feel each emotion at a different point in the MV, which can on the face of it, show school bullying because of differences, but is also shown as a metaphor about the death of a classical art form, which is Kathakali. Kathakali is one of the 7 classical dance forms of India, from the state of Kerala, and is generally taught within families. Here, the pride and survival of the new generation is threatened because of outside perception, and the death of the child represents the death of the artform because the artform is not understood. The father feels the death of his child despite not witnessing it, and is frantically trying to save him, but in the end, also lies dead. The last scene shows Lord Krishna, traditionally shown in blue skin and yellow silk, taking the father to heaven with him, and the father attains moksha. An extremely deep and touching MV, it really is unfortunate that this underrated yet classic video and amazing song is now widely known (and some Kantara lovers even hating on it) due to plagiarism issues.

Oh common, who can hate this master piece. I truly love both versions. I don't know why brotherly keralites call this an Indian culture but when it comes to music it belongs to one particular musicians. Clearly Metal is not indian of course. Music belongs to everyone brothers. They get inspiration from one another and make their own version. To be honest thaikkudam bridge could have gone easy on this.

Omg I can't thank you enough, I've been looking for the meaning of the MV forever even though I already understood it the same way. I hate that India is apeing vanilla Western culture when our own culture is so rich so I understand the metaphor of the deaths. Also kantara makers obviously stole this song and they made insane amounts of money from the movie, they could have easily paid the band for their hardwork, I really hope they settled out of court and paid them.
@matchynishi Жыл бұрын
@@yuklz247 Glad my comment helped. :) Kantara makers almost made this MV as the basis for the whole movie, lol, seems some of the characters and movie plot is loosely tied to how it goes in the MV - it says a lot of how amazing the storyline is displayed in the MV, in that sense! Still, I hope they settle out of court and give due credits, etc, I haven't kept up with the lawsuit.

The song from Kantara and Thaikudam Bridge's Navarasam are similar because the Kantara team have illegally used Navarasam as their template for their song ( TB have sued and there's a court case at the moment). That's the real reason despite what people say in the comments. A lot of Indians just don't understand what constitutes plagiarism. Many will even defend it by calling copied stuff "inspiration" 🤦♀️. It's pretty sad and unfortunate.

To those people who claim they are similar due to raga, can you spot another song with same raga that seems similar to both?? Also the music director in an interview said that he had navarasam inspired for his song, and you guys clearly know to what extent inspiration can be justified without credit/mention and hence commonsense guys!!😂 NB. I like both songs, its not about the song but the morality or ethics😊✌️
