Sad that cheerleading ends after school and that it isn't recognized as a competitive sport post college. These kids put so much into training, and then it all drops off. Could be an incredible sport for them to build careers in post college if they had that opportunity.

I think it should be, if this went to the Olympics I'd actually watch them. The athletism and team work is insane. These girls & guys deserve medals and far more recognition and respect for their sport. If this isn't sport I don't know what is!
@RomeeRaven5 жыл бұрын
Just a guess, but it's probably not existant after college because they train so hard all their lives that their bodies are pretty much drained after a certain age. I'd say that past the age of 25, the body just can't handle the constant stress and pain anymore, the performance drops and the injury rate goes up. Not saying that you can't cheer anymore after that, just not on the same level these college kids are at.

The girl at 4:03 is an absolute POWERHOUSE of a performer. Does anyone know her name? Her performance gave me chills, especially as the middle flyer. Of course, she has insane technical skill (they all do), but her power, enthusiasm, expression, and fearlessness moves people in a way that can't even be fully be described. THAT is what the best of cheer is all about--making the crowd feel powerful, making them feel pride for their team, and in awe at the greatness of people. Cheer is pride, passion, culture, unity. She makes me feel powerful, and I am at awe in the power and fearlessness of human beings.

The Olympic Charter indicates that in order to be accepted, a sport must be widely practiced by men in at least 75 countries and on four continents and by women in no fewer than 40 countries and on three continents. ... Is the competition here broken up between universities and junior colleges? Navarro is a junior college, so anyone can get in with a hs diploma. They're basically pulling the best of the best around the country for this team and you would have to enroll in at least a class or 2 to be eligible as a student. I'm just wondering cause navarro being a junior college gives them opportunity to pack their roster; kids can come specifically to cheer for a year or so, while other colleges have to rely on who gets accepted at the college. If the divisions are seperate though, I dont see a problem. If they aren't, doesn't that seem a little unfair? And community colleges involve less studying. Idk it just seems like this would be an extreme advantage

Are there only 2 or 3 junior colleges that compete. Are they competing with the 4 year colleges as well?
@shritchie5 жыл бұрын
I think junior colleges have their own category, so there is always a junior college winner but then there is also a grand champion category which is all colleges combined, so it’s possible to win the JC category but not the overall category but also possible for them to beat all the colleges including 4 year if they take the grand champion title.
