WCAM 3 locos are dual current locos ...that is they operate both on DC current and also AC current. W = Broad gauge C= Direct current A= AC current M= mixed class ( both passenger and Goods ) 3= type of modification. These locos were built in dual current mode as Mumbai trains operated on 1500 volts DC. At Pune they had 25 Kw AC. So the locos have 2 pantographs . One for DC and one for AC. The Loco pilot must change panto when crossing from DC to AC. These locos are monsters....5400 HP power

Excellent video. You explained the full route well. In the 1970s the Bangalore to Miraj route was still MG track. So the passengers from Pune to Bangalore had to change trains at Miraj, since Mumbai to Miraj was a BG track. But now the full stretch is BG track. The uni gauge policy of the railways is a boon to all passengers.

Naveen Kumar fully loved and enjoyed this entire series right from Madurai to Hazrat Nizamuddin, Visit to Kartarpur, Attari Wagha Border, Visit to Shirdi, Nashik etc. First time seeing this travel vlog On Chalukya Express from Dadar to Tirunelveli. A very long distance train. Since you travelled on a Week day This train was not jam packed Whlle I read Rekha SrinivasaN Comment that she has also travelled in this train in 3AC Coach and that Unreserved passengers also boarded 3AC coaches and Sleeper class coaches were ocuupied with Ticletless passengers. So shameful and disgusting. Why are the Railways turning a Blind eye towards such a nuisance. Genuine reserved passengers have got a right to travel comfortably. I f strict checking is done this will not take place. Naveen you should eat Idli, it is very healthy Breakfast food as it is steamed. Fully loved and enjoyed this Digital travel with you and Arvind. When I was Mumbai, I used travel by Mail Exp., In between Sholapur to Guntakal theifs had been entered in the train and looted commuters belongings, whatever available. That's why RPF personnels asked the passengers to not open the doors and widow doors also.

WIshing you a happy, prosperous and safe Deepawali. Thanks a lot for this wonderful series.....I am very happy that you did it by going to Kartarpur and the Wagah-Attari border. Thanks a ton to Arvind too for being your greatest support system and help you accomplish this. You do eat upma and idli during train journeys and infact found the Vande Bharat upma to be yummy...... why not eat the idli and upma made by your amma at home? I have traveled twice by this train from Yeshwantpur to Tirunelveli by 3 AC and had a nightmarish experience. The train was packed with unreserved passengers even in the AC coaches and the sleeper coaches were jam packed with ticketless cases. The toilets were so dirty that the stench of urine emanating from the coaches ruined the atmosphere in Yeshwantpur railway station......no one could stand in the platform for more than a minute because of the stink. Good that you had a pleasant experience in this train after a long tiring trip.

Dadar ten superfast express goes into kerala and reaches coimbatore too. This travels through 4 states(don't know if it passes through goa, if it does that makes it 5). I've used this train to reach Tvl, and usually it is very smelly.. but it is a good option to reach tvl from cbe at a reasonable time in the morning, and the only other train than CBE-NCJ to go through the dindigul madurai route to TVL.
