I've been experimenting with triggering guitar notes in sequence using my kick drum and one pad. For this video I recorded every guitar and bass note separately then chopped and exported each note. The notes were grouped into multiple samplers creating a few 'riffs' in my DAW which is Bitwig (check it out for sure).
When a midi signal (kick or pad hit) is sent to the sampler the notes are played in sequence one at a time, 'round robin' style giving me the ability to cycle through the series of notes using only the kick or the pad.
The lead was created in the same fashion, only it is triggered with both the kick and the pad giving the effect of a continual lead played over the riffs. For the finishing touches I automated when each sampler turns on and off in order to arrange the song. There are no additional layers added after the original performance and there is no backing track.
I hope that makes sense, if enough of you ask, I'll make a video breaking down what's actually going on here.
