All jokes aside, what Evan said in his "Pizza Express" example is absolutely true. Many (but not all) British accents (and some other accents) have this feature known as *linking* or *intrusive R* .To link two vowel sounds together, we insert an "r" sound. So, saying "I saw it" could sound a little like "I saw *_rit_*

A similar phenomenon exists in French, it’s called “liaison”, but I had never really noticed this in (British) English!

In Germany we just say it as one word and sometimes throw an S in there. I mean, we would probably say and write it "Pizzaexpress".
