I will never forget my most favorite Christmas tree. I was 8 years old. My Mom and I were celebrating the event with my Aunt in Northern California. We went to a cut-it-your-self farm out in the middle of nowhere. (at least that was my perspective at that age). After we found the perfect tree it began to snow. We each took turns at the bow saw to cut it down. The surreal feeling of being in the middle of nowhere, in a forest of trees cutting the most perfect Christmas tree while it was snowing with my Mom and Aunt. I felt both elated at the event and sad for the tree as it would no longer grow to become an ever more beautiful tree. The odd feelings of a child when you are at an epic moment of a family event in a most beautiful situation, the forest, the snow falling, the smell of the pines all around us, and the realization I had of the tree dying so we all could celebrate Jesus's birth. I cried which concerned my Mom. To this day I do not understand why we kill healthy trees to celebrate the most important birth that has ever occurred on this planet. Celebrate a divine birth with the death of one of God's beautiful creations. That is an oxymoron. Still though, that realization is why it was my most favorite Christmas tree. Right then and there I learned that we do really stupid things all in the name of "tradition". May our Lord and Savior guide us all to better our logic and reasoning and improve our future on this planet while we live in the brief moments of this life that we all have been blessed with.

As a real estate appraiser I always appreciate unique homes. But, sometimes those tract homes are needed for a break. Look for some plans in AZ and NV where they are all identical. I always wondered how many tipsy people pull into the wrong driveway. As for stores, I always appreciate the ones that have man chairs.
