Whats your opinion on looping? Is it lazy? Or is it just as valid as chopping?
@alexunderground8293 жыл бұрын
I don't think looping is lazy, but easier to start with.
@lilghob3 жыл бұрын
In emo rap is pretty common to just loop da shit i think, like guitars mostly, i like that authentic vibe but its lil bit scary for me to loop samples like that because of clearance issues, lol
@slaxxer1133 жыл бұрын
Depends on how it is used. Mac Miller was a sampling god while some people just take a loop and drop some drums on top of it. It can help to get out of a beatblock though
@txddyfarquh39163 жыл бұрын
I don't like to loop but when beatblock arises?...I turn to looping lol up until I can start building melodies around the loop then I delete it.
@user-lt2rw5nr9s3 жыл бұрын
You already said chopping was where the creativity comes in. If everyone used the same sample, how would your's be different? Plus, I love the chop gods and if you saw how well they can flip samples, you'd probably want to emulate that.

This was fantastic video to watch. As someone who can both “make beats from scratch” and make “sample based beats” fairly well, I thoroughly enjoyed the in-depth descriptions of small key elements like chopping so it sounds “musically correct” without technically being perfect, etc. Do more sample shit.
@NavieD3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Nate! I love making sampling videos, but most them don't get good traction. I think people feel that it's not in vogue

So glad to see someone making tutorials who puts a huge emphasis on subjectivity. Been going back through your videos and can easily say they've been exponentially more helpful than a majority of other FL tutorial makers for trap/hiphop, if only because you leave everything up to experimentation and don't try to force weird rules on your viewers. It also helps that your tips are genuinely unique and not on the "this was a cool a year ago and now I'm making a video on it just for the views even though everyone else has a similar video" bandwagon.
@NavieD3 жыл бұрын
Dag thank you man! I definitely know what you mean. I try to avoid the "If you want to make X type of beat, use this sound, this synth, this preset". I moreso like to talk about fundamental principles and concepts

Dude .. I really appreciate your content! Very calm explaination and straight to the point, I've seen some stuff related to sampling from Cxdy, Mai, Busyworksbeats ... but this method is much more efficient. I mean ... rather than chopping all the chords in the sample, making each one unique & making them fit like a dude who enjoys wasting his time ... you're just using 2 klicks within newtone. That's just crazy. Same goes for the wavecandy technique ... Thanks man!
