Spite plays are the worst form of irresponsible decisions in my opinion (Besides maybe puking out rocks into a fish). Played a tournament with a pod of 3 who we "friends" and all 3 kept making spite plays and just kept getting angry at each other. The game ended in a draw, but it was just horrible gameplay that shouldn't have happened. Key takeaway, don't make spite plays!

The demonizing of politics is even more frustrating in casual commander. Also, what some people consider "politics" can be very...incorrect. Just talking isn't political.

People will always have differing opinions on what’s the threat. And “threat assessment” has become convoluted. I’ve found it’s better to ask the table, who’s in first place? Second? And go from there. Sometimes it’s a tie and that’s harder to navigate

While it is a gray area, the line between politics and angle shooting is waaayyyy to far to the shooting side and is probably the worst part of this great format

The irresponsible players drive me insane. Had a tournament where I went 2nd in turn order, started with Gemstone in the pregame, then on my turn, played land and mana crypt, mana crypt then gets force of will’d from player 3, and then I let it resolve, then in the same turn, play mana vault, it resolves, and then play the One Ring and it gets force of negation by player 4. I am blown out, I have 2 lands in play and 2 cards in hand. Player 1 proceeds to then beat my face in with 30 points of damage all the while I’m pleading my case they should attack player 3 because player 3 is on Codie Ad Naus. Player 1’s response was, “I don’t care what he’s doing, I’m taking you out of the game.” I exhaust all my interaction to stay alive and use my stax pieces to prevent Codie from activating (ie Cursed Totem) and Codie proceeds to top deck Ad Naus and casts it at 39 life and proceeds to win the game. I just shook my head and said I told you the exact way this game was going to go and player 1 said, “that’s what you get for playing a turn 1 One Ring”. I go, “you mean the turn 1 One Ring that got countered?” I just smh and moved on. Ended up in the finals with essentially the same pod minus Player 4 from that round and a similar scenario happens. Idk how to handle that after I literally walk the table through how it’s going to go if they do not focus their damage to the ad Naus player.

In all my play experience it's weirdly always blue players (and more specifically blue farm players) that are just so greedy they don't care about what else is going on unless it affects them so they feed the heck out of rhystic/mystic and never pay their taxes, never pay for tithe etc etc and just give away so many resources for free for literally nothing. And I see most of my non-blue playing compatriots always paying or paying more often than for their taxes! Come on now blue players stop being so greeedy!

Blue farm is certainly a deck of all time. They're so privileged that they think they feel safe making play mistakes.

This is a conversation more people need to hear, and i feel like more can be said on this topic. At a certain point, you have to achieve "winning the game" and when your against someone who's actually more concerned about just making sure "YOU" don't win instead of deploying their plan is what makes the Commander forma toxic as a whole. And it's normally under the guise of "plausible deniability" so you can't just call the judge over for "targeting you" because it's normally a "one off" play by that player.

My first tournament cedh game, I tried to go for it when I didnt know if I had it or not, but the enemy had a remora out and uuh... I just saw a line (Primal Command on my own Grafdiggers cage usingemergance zone as selvala.) and it seems so funky, and I just narrowed in on it sooo hard. I learned my lesson after that one.

Angle shooting to help the entirety of the table is politicking. Angle shooting to just win and deceive is where it becomes crappy. Like hey, I’ll cast this so you can draw a card and counter this spell or ping his commander with bowmaster so we don’t just lose.

To me politicing is 'if you dont kill my thing ill not hit you for a turn'. THAT i dont engage in. You gotta do what you gotta do and i gotta do what i gotta do. Calling out threats is one one, but i really donot like the 'feal making' part of politics.

So many times i'll have players who will automatically see you as a threat for removing a problem piece of theres or literally anything once. Its exhausting to sit and play a game where i either lose first because i chose to interact or lose because they just ran away unchecked. I dont even care about winning, my games just quickly warp my decisions around keeping the butthurt guy in check while other people start to pop off.

So what is your opinion on chain bullying? I.E. chaining not the thing that is winning the game or pulling the player ahead, but instead chain of vapor someone elses thing, forcing them to deal with it.

Im willing to bet over 50% of the people that complain about playing with bad players are basing that opinion off only the information they have in their hand and on the table. And not even considering they only have partial information.

Sometimes ppl just blind point at something that is not that as a threat to the table but makes it’s opponents think to remove by using their resources. cEDH is just mindblowing, words can win you games if you use them properly

Ive visited Louisville on 5 separate occasions and the outerbelt system was terrible and confusing to tourists. People would end up going down the wrong way, stopped and trying to figure out where to go, etc. It is a great idea in philosophy; but it has poor execution and planning. The second one of the exits shut down too it’s pure chaos. Where do I go, oh I passed my exit and can’t get back to my road let me look in my mirror like I might be able to back up on the 4 lane highway… 😅

One big issue with opponents, especially newer players, is what I call level 2 threat assessment. Most players have a rudimentary to decent understanding of threat assessment when comparing how their opponents' board states are affecting their board. However, far more players can't accurately discern what their opponents' threat assessment is, and how to navigate those assessments with nuisance. Add in the complications of player pride, player discipline, format knowledge and experience and you can see why this format is a difficult transition from 60 card.
