I went to college for 3 1/2 years and only had a few classes left to go before I got a few different degrees. I did it without debt and the reason I quit was because I wanted to be a home builder. I'm glad I chose to be a carpenter over a desk job and retired at 42. I'm a fifth generation carpenter in my family. When I was young, my dad taught me some things and I kept on learning. I paid my way through college by working construction in the summers and part time during the school year. I worked for a boss for a few years till I felt that I had enough experience to go out on my own and got a contractors license. During college, I purchased raw land and got a very used and small travel trailer to park on the property and live in. Then on the nights and weekends after working construction, I would build my own home. I sold that home and built many more. I used my contractors license as a stepping stone to set my own hours which gave me more time to build my home and the money to do so and only used the license for a few years before I was building for myself. After the first two home I built and sold, I started keeping the homes I built and renting them out. The rent money all went into mostly gold but now I'm into silver. I hardly ever ate out and drove used cars that I don't keep that long because I flip them for profit. Buy low and sell at a higher price equals drive for free. That's how I did it and I did it without hiring anyone to help me. I don't keep hardly any money in my credit union. Just enough to pay my bills for the month. All my money is in real estate and silver.

@@louiem337 Thank you! It was supper hard work. My grandma told me that I shouldn't ever go into debt and to never get a credit card. I followed her advice. She also told me to save and if I couldn't afford it than I shouldn't get it till I can afford it. Then she showed me some gold coins and said that this was real money and to collect it. I was in grade school when she said this stuff to me but I remembered and followed her advice. I made a few mistakes along the way and realized that I had done so which caused me to correct those mistakes and move on back to the plan. She was the only one who ever told me these things. She tried to share these things with my parents but it went in one ear and out the other. Everyone thought I was an idiot for living a life like that but now I have passed up most of them. Some of my friends parents were very rich and owned car dealerships and major companies. Those friends never had to work a day in there lives and were given everything they have. I asked my dad how can I ever afford a home making $25.00 an hour as a journeyman carpenter. He told me that I needed to build two homes and sell them. The third would be mine to keep debt free. That advice worked.

Nothing will make a person persue alternative streams of income like working in healthcare! It's like cRaZy on steroids. Jeff Ross - "Counting down the days until Vailshire was successful enough to retire from medicine. Mentally I was there years ago." Pretty much sums it up. Thanks for having the Doctor on, really enjoyed listening to his perspective. He worked towards a goal of getting out of healthcare and succeeded. Did the exact same thing and can respect him for that. VT247

I don't denominate my BTC holdings in dollars in my mind. It's important to actively manage my holdings at large however I see BTC as a premier asset in a digital class and denominate my holdings in Satoshis. I do the same with hard assets. I denominate my PMs in Troy ounces. I denominate my land holdings in acres. Dollars are a mirage.

Im 18 and college seems like a waste. Im currently trying to get into a apprenticeship and learn hands on skills. In high school it seemed like college is the only road my teachers preached. Our generation is getting mostly usless degrees with lots of debt. I understand college if you want to become a doctor, lawyer but it seems to me most the people i talk to with degrees never dove into their feild and ended up doing something different. I need advice is my thought behind all of this good?
@RobSoltan2 жыл бұрын
If I personally could go back in time 10 years ago to 18 I would tell myself college will always be there. There is nothing wrong with taking a few years to yourself to decide. Never understood why society rushes kids into professions. Waiting tables taught me more than college ever did. Can’t give advice on it, but that’s my take. Good luck 🤝
