As a Swedish person, in our language, the word gut, translated is God. So when a English speaking person says, "It was a 'gut' feeling" or "listen to your 'gut'" translated in to Swedish it's, "Listen to God", Or, "A God feeling" Thank you, Liz Gale. You're an amazing person who exudes kindness, love, and knowledge ❤️. You're Appreciated ❤️.

I'm so glad to see you back! There have been times when I didn't follow my gut, and I paid dearly for it (getting into a church with IBLP promoted from the pulpit then marrying a man who believed in it, too). You described our gut instinct perfectly..."if you get the ick about somebody, chances are that is your gut protecting you." Very wise words...that quote is going on my classroom wall! The book in your stack during your outro has now gone into my Amazon cart...Bad Girls Throughout History. If it's middle school age appropriate, then it'll end up in my class library.
@fairyspunfibers90985 ай бұрын
@grandmaschuman Good idea! It also helps to describe to children what an "ick" might feel like ... to a child. Examples would have helped me tremendously, both as a child and as an adult. If your classroom is old enough, you could even share your own sad lessons with them. Being caught up in a cult is no joke and can ruin a life!

Liz, this video resonated so much with me! You would think as a 63 year old, never-in, that I would have better instincts, but I don’t 😢 I can now see why all the ex-scientos are very guarded. I am a people person and choose to see good in everyone until given a reason not to! Thank you for your wisdom and platform ❤️ I appreciate you 🥰
@fishdaddy355 ай бұрын
Hey Liz. You know I love and respect you. I have always considered you to be a voice of reason and sanity in the community. To clarify, the ex-Scn community was not always full of drama and rancor. Originally, it was a group of friends banding together to expose Scientology through books, blogs and media interviews. The first wrinkle in that was Marty Rathbun, who suddenly began attacking every other member of the community. He began the narrative that Mike Rinder was “controlled opposition,” hired by Scientology to destroy the ex community. Well, we all know how that played out and who really was in the pay of Scientology! These days, I pretty much ignore these flare-ups between members of the community, and do not follow the back-and-forth. But I DO look closely at anyone who promotes these conflicts and blows them up. And I look particularly closely at anyone who seems to be attacking EVERY major player in the community. Are they just working to grow their channel, or is there a darker agenda? Are they working for Scientology? Well, in my view, and according to my “gut,” anyone seeking to promote animosity and hatred in the community IS working for Scientology, whether they know it or not. Scientology wants to splinter the anti-Scientology movement and wants to get us hating and mistrusting each other. And they want to make the anti-Scientology space so toxic and unpleasant that no one will ever want to look at it. Hell, WE don’t even want to watch it!! Scientology is deathly afraid that current Scientologists will find these anti-Scientology channels and watch them, so they want to make those channels as messy and toxic and unpleasant to watch as possible. So who is forwarding that agenda? Of course, there will always be conflicts and arguments. But work those out privately, please, don’t spread it all over KZbin. That just muddies our message and makes it look like we are a toxic, horrible, warring group. Which we are not. YOU are not, Liz!!

"Gut instincts" are some of your oldest stored memories, accrued over time. Your body stores the long-term memories you don't need to access regularly down the brain stem, into the heart, lungs, and gut. The more experience you have, the more accurate your heart and gut feelings are. "Discernment" is recognizing when the head, heart, and gut are all aligned, you're probably right. Neurologists rock.

Hey Liz. Psyched to see you back. I really like your intro and the music. Is that you singing? You have a combination of insight and pragmatism that makes this video accessible anx illuminating. Thanks for sharing information to help me understand on a deeper level the individual and group dynamics of former Scientologists. I'm a never in. I can't really get all everyone's experiences but I want to make sure that I bring respect, understanding and compassion into my interactions on livestreams in and other exchanges. I'm a bit of a geek about how information is presented. I was a Technical Writer, plus I taught a class about it at a community college. Engaging presentation, cogent expression and organization of your content. It's logical, linear, and so many other fun things that my coffee deprived brain can't express them. Lol. Great backdrop. Excellent. The only thing you might want to check on is the sound. The volume changes a bit throughout. It seems like it's a matter of the placement of the mic. It seems that perhaps you're wearing it on your clothes. Movement can affect the volume.

I do trust my instincts, and most of the time, they are rights. In this community, one channel did fool me. But, as with the other channels that I found offensive, I unsubscribed. Now, there is less yelling and less drama. I delete those in chat who support certain individuals, and I find chats to be more enjoyable. My only wish is that some channels stop responding to those who continue to spread lies, threaten, and cause drama. Just ignore them. They crave attention. Don't give it to them.

In my experience, people who try to destroy other people's credibility, accusing them of being a bad actor yet have no concrete proof are themselves the bad actors. People that get caught up in it hurt the very people who are trying to make a difference. The ugliness lately has caused many good KZbinrs, supporters and survivors to disengage completely to take care of themselves. If people want them to come back and stay active, IMO some accountability needs to start happening too. For one, why are people still hanging out in livestreams if they don't support that person's platform? I believe the healthy thing to do is report harassment and misinformation, give it a thumbs down, unsubscribe, ask KZbin to stop recommending those videos and completely disengage. Then support the people who are fighting to bring down this cult who proceed with actual facts
