thank you for showing one example of the true face of homelessness, but it is too short to address things like how many people lose their jobs when their employer finds out they're homeless, and how did this family finally make it out, and what services are available to help them deal with their lingering ptsd and fear of being homeless again? is this video simply part of a longer piece that i missed?

I live in guatemala and for an income of $2,000 a month you'll live good life here. At least twice as better as the average guatemalans who live with an average income of $500.00 a month. Kinda like inmigrants do to make money, they go to the US and then they send some money back to their families, these americans could do the same thing here, just viceversa. The father can stay there, while the family lives here with an average apartment, enough food and even all services... cable, internet... etc "Guatemala isn't safe" -Funny enough, if our authorities notice that you're american you're very much likely to be 10 times more safer than a normal guatemalan. My family makes around Q19,000 Quetzales a month, which is about $2500 and we have 3 cars, average house, internet and tons of other things. Maybe this info will help someone desperate. Like for so many years you welcome us in your country, I'll be happy to do the same for you.

@@thelegleg1 It didn't fail. The Soviets greatly improved the lives of the people as the result of the revolution. They industrialized the country faster than any country before it. They all had healthcare, food, housing, jobs, and no unemployment or homelessness. There were mistakes and things didn't turn out perfectly, but Russia was literally invaded by over 10 countries after the revolution. They went through terrible oppression by the Tsarist regime, and they went through war after war after war. The USSR brought peace and stability. Western capitalist propaganda just want to point out the bad and the mistakes made, but they never point out the good things accomplished. That is because they NEED the working class to believe "communism always fails." That saying just rolls off everyone's tongues, without even thinking about it. Who went to space first? The Soviets. Who invented the AK-47? The Soviets. Who was the first to build up to rival the US as a second superpower? The Soviets. If "communism always fails", why was America so afraid of the USSR?

California is the worst place to be if you are poor. California is anti-poor because the politicians cater to anti-building type policies which creates artificial scarcity for housing. So of course the rent/house prices go through the roof. Everyone is fighting to get a place to stay and that competition is seen through high prices. Not everyone can have a roof over their head if there is simply not enough units to begin with.

🙏🏾 This makes me extremely grateful.. I couldn’t help but to cry. I’m in Portland, OR and the housing/homeless crisis here is crazy. I want to help so bad, instead of saying it, I just need to do it.. just driving on our freeways so many homeless people. We have SO SO SO MANY vacant and new built apartments/condos/homes.. just sitting there and more being built! Rent is crazy here now and now you have to make so much more than the rent. It seems impossible for someone to be able to pay that rent just getting off of the street. Finding a job here that pays enough for your normal life and rent is so hard. They need to take all of these people, and put them in these vacant places. I know it’s easier said than done, but those places are just sitting there not generating any income. If I owned a large apartment complex, or if I could buy one, I would IMMEDIATELY start a program or Non profit to move people in. I just hate how backwards things can be.

The USA is the worst country to live if you're not earning $90K a year. There is no more affordable rentals in NY, MA, CA, OR, FL, DC , even in remote state like NH.

And this is WHY I get upset when people wanna say most people just want a hand out!! I will say maybe about 10% of people who want to be lazy and collect a check, but this proves that people are really trying to get back on their feet

I agree. But seriously learn how English works first before you get all concerned about Spanish. Understanding how to structure a sentence will go a long way for you.

1) When has it not happened? 2) Overpopulation means higher costs of living. 3) Minimum wage, no benefits, no healthcare does not equate to living dignified. Especially if you have a health issue. 4) The military used to take men with a 10th grade education and gave them opportunities to improve. They seriously want Community college now. This is America.

Can't they look for jobs away from LA. Housing isn't too bad as you get further from the city.

I was smart enough to leave san diego back in 2003 when I realized where the economy was heading. You need to move out to New Mexico.
