I thought the same thing you said at the end when referring to "You are never going to get a clean carburated 12a again" when I sold my first car which was a black '83 GSL with a silver pinstripe. I got that car when I was 16 and sold it shortly after my 20th birthday. Now approaching my 22nd birthday, I have just purchased 2! Guess I couldn't stay away for too long! Once you crack open that 8k redline in these little beehives, it's a feeling that's hard to get anywhere else. Nice ride my friend. I hope it treats you right and that you make many memories with it.

Completely agree with the Porsche analogy. when you compare, its actually the same packaging like a Porsche 912! sub 1,100kg, about 100-130hp, 2+2 config, slick door opening sound, 7" round headlamps, uncomplicated. what's not to like?!

I’m glad it made sense to someone haha. But yah it’s an awesome car.

Here in Australia, ALL first gen RX-7's were SA's not FB, we only got 12A engines, no 13B versions.

I know you guys got turbos unless it was imported from japan but I’ve seen a few
@keithrx3c3 ай бұрын
@@NavsGarage There was a 12A turbo version, some have been privately imported here, as far as I'm aware we didn't get them. Obviously, people do convert them to 12A turbo or 13B turbo etc.
@NavsGarage3 ай бұрын
Ah yah I’m referring to the 12a turbo version. It would make sense that they were imported.

i have an fbrx7 myself and i have a few questions first of all. Mine has like 130 k miles and i wanna know how long yall think that it will run and which is the best rotory engine to swap into it when my 12 a breaks in therms of reliability and running long
@NavsGarageАй бұрын
I mean if you properly maintain it you probably have a long time. I will rebuild my 12a if something happens to it and port it at the same time, but if you want more power and it to be easier, 13b na is the best bet from everything I see.

So @3:38 you basically said it feels like shit in a lot of ways sloppy steering lots of noises the smells.... what people say when they drive 80's 911s they say man this "feeling" 911s shift like garbage from that era and the SA and FB always had a better shifting trans you didnt have to ask the trans for second gear and then wait for it to maybe give you second gear like the 80's and earlier 911s did before the G50 trans in I think 1989... but the box in the Rx7 and what was later implemented in the Miata remained unchanged for many many years until they had the turbo model which was stronger but shifted like shit and would grind syncros!. ANyway I digress I have all generations of Rx7 and they are lots of fun the FB is definitely an under rated and slept on Classic, Lots of other cars like the AE86 Toyotas are worshiped but the first generation Rx7 while it doesn't have an Anima/cartoon on its side its got history and wins on its side the Entire GTU and IMSA racing series actually from mid 70's to 90's the Rx7 and Mazda became the most winning car company of all time from all racing serries combined... this was largerly due to the success of the First gen Rx7 and really just a testament to how crappy other cars and options where at the time due to emissions and gas consumptions battles the cars offered in this era where generally garbage and the Rx7 stood out like shiny gold in a field of garbage so yes they sold a lot of them.

Yah I didn’t mean that it drove bad. My car needs new bushings which is why it has so much slop in everything but they definitely drive different from modern sports cars which I think makes them even cooler. The fb definitely is a great car hopefully one day I’ll have all 3 as well lol.

@@NavsGarage No it was a great review lol, I was honestly just pointing out that a lot of times when we have nothing super good to say we say "the feeeling is like nothing else" its true though the smells and noises are never happening again!! so I watched the rest, and I thought you did a great job !
