Paul, ĺ loved watching these great seaman graduate. It reminded me of the stories my dad used to tell. He was from New York & was sent to Gŕeat Lakes for bootçamp. Then a layover in Indianapolis, where he met my mom. It was a 3yr. long distance romance that lasted 52 years. He was stationed on a destroyer escort, tĥe USS BLACK in the Pacific, mostly in the Sea of Sipian. GO NAVY ❤❤

My brother, graduated from the U.S. Navy boot camp base in 1959, was deployed to the USS Tanner, a geological survey ship, he had many ports of call, the last one being sent to the Bay of Pigs .I salute all service men and women in the armed forces ⚓🇺🇸

I was there in March of 2019 for my grandson's graduation. He now serves as a crewmen on the USS Alabama, an Ohio class submarine out of Washington state. Having served 22 yrs in the Army, I was a little out of place amid the "dixie cup" head gear. I do, however, and in spite of the rivalries, respect and honor the service of all members of all the branches of our armed forces. From those special honors afforded the likes of Douglas Munro (Coast Guard Medal of Honor awardee) to the more well known Audie Murphy, all gave some. Some gave all. My thanks to all as we approach Veterans Day on the 11th day of the 11th month. This we'll defend!

My son graduated from Great Lakes in 1989! We went there for the graduation. He served aboard the USS John F. Kennedy. He served in the Persian Gulf War. God bless our military and keep them safe.
