For those watching who aren’t familiar with the “Navy lingo”. Dropped= literally dropping on the floor to do exercises ASMO= held back in boot camp Beat= basically the same thing as dropped. Physical workouts you do when you mess up. They call it “intesive training” RDC=Recruit Divison Commander Two pack= on your butt Six pack= on your stomach

Our daughter is in Great Lakes at boot camp. She’s in 933 DIV. We are very proud of her but I know she’s going through a tough time. She’s always been a quiet and very respectful kid and not very sociable. Her father just retired from the Navy after 30yrs as a CWO4. He is what they call a salty sailor. Meaning he’s an old school sailor and by the book and strict. Takes out his white glove during inspections. Navy life is an amazing life. We went all over the world and loved it. Proud of you young ladies for taking on the torch and continuing the Navy life and tradition. Blessings on your career.

I just graduated Jan 25! Mannnn the memories y’all are bringing up lol I honestly watched this video before I left and was still unprepared af. Lol the only thing that’s different is our RDCs wanted us ready and on the toe-line by reveille. So for a 4 am reveille, we had to be up like by 3 am to get dressed, hair done, racks made.. everythingggg by 4. Not a hair out of place at 4 or we alllll would get dropped! Im 25 so I think people who are 17 or 18 are a little unconditioned and uncomfortable with Pt. I lost 200lbs and run 6 miles a day by choice. I ship out december 17th. The only thing I need to work on is getting the 11 general orders perfect and remembering the chain of command. otherwise My pt is near perfect already.

My navy bootcamp experience wasn’t hard, we had a bunch of girls that really clicked the worst part was every night girls would not shut up talking knowing we had to wake up early, we had inspections which were cake, before you go learn your rank and general orders, I low key miss it!

I was a boot amp red roper in 1978 to 1981 as a chief gunners mate. I remember eating the recruits cookies. We as trainers looked forward to mail call packages. I am now 75 years old retired CPO. I graduated March 16 (Division 126) and I’m currently at A school. As far as sleeping I would sleep 30 min after taps, no big deal. I was in an integrated division and we weren’t beat as much. The all male divisions (ship 6)were beat a lot, 10 counts were the RDCs favorite exercise.

LOL the nicknames... I didn't have one in Bootcamp. When I got to ATT, I was FC, my last name was shortened to Homie. A few people called me Eskimo cause I'm Native Alaskan. Homie stuck when I got to C school and when I got to a ship. Even had people know my nickname before meeting me, they'd see my name tape and go "Oh, I get it" Edit: I too was in an integrated divison. Our RPOC was a female with college education... I joined right out of high school. She was the best. Our AROC was a guy that got held back after trying to help someone with swim qual, also a great person. Swim qual was fun. Three of us got 2nd class swimmer qual, while waiting for everyone to finish. We just had to do all 4 survival swim strokes for 100 yards each, and we re-did the 5 minute prone float to eat up more time.

People keep saying different stuff about the swimming portion in basic training. My brother just graduated basic and I was told that they actually DO teach you how to swim because SAFETY is first. If you don’t qualify they will ensure that you will eventually.

If you don’t qualify you don’t graduate with your Division you graduate with another division which sucks and the instructors rush the swim lessons so they aren’t that good, don’t depend on bootcamp swim instructors come in knowing how to swim.

I graduated on Jan.5th. I was supposed to graduate on dec.8.17 but I got set back cause I failed my run. Practice running pplllll!!! It’s no joke. If u are physically ready it will be a little bit easier. Ensure u have ppl writing to u all the time cause it helps. I was mail p.o Nd I didn’t get any mail😂😂😂 it sucked. Just keep ur head up tho. Yes you will get held back. We call that getting ASMOD, there are 2 practice pfa's and 1 Final. You have to pass the run, sit ups and pushups on the final to graduate.

How was the process when you first arrived? Did it start immediately, or were you in like a waiting period then it started? Were you able to keep your phone/get phone calls during boot camp, or do you have to ship it back? For A-school, what's the training/classes like? Would you recommend going to a C school? If you didn't, do you know what the options are as to what you could be doing/what areas you could be placed in? I'm interested in enlisting once I complete my Associates degree this spring, and hoping HM is available! Could you also talk about the ASVAB line scores needed to even have HM as an option?

When you get there they waste NO time! You start getting your ditty bags issued with all your clothes and stuff, Hygiene Products, etc... You HAVE to ship your phone back home. They Allow No Phone after P1 day. Getting a C School is smart, it all depends on what you want to do personally. Im going to make another video soon covering these questions and more. 😊

Bootcamp starts the second you pull into the gates. Honestly whatever you make of it, however don’t for a second go in thinking it will be easy. A school is obviously better in terms of freedom and being able to socialize (isn’t shit compared to the real navy tho) but they still have you march in-out & put you on a strict schedule. C school isn’t up to you, your orders or command will dictate if you go. ASVAB was a compilation of high school math, English and navy throws in some engineering and electrical knowledge in it. Graduated over a year ago and A school 6 months ago so all this is somewhat fresh. Good luck!

So I got 99 on the ASVAB and took an IS job. I ship in April. I could have taken a CT job ( but the A-school was longer). I’m coming in as an older guy (E3, etc.) and would prefer to take the most respected job with the most opportunities in civilian life. Which rate gets more respect and civilian opportunities, CT or IS?

CTs definitely. They get top secret security clearence which most ISs don’t get. CTs have harder schools but it pays off. I’m going in as a CTN and if I serve 6 years, the first job in the civilian world is easily over 100k a year. Plus IS means you’ll spend most of your days on a ship! If you’re into that 👀🤷🏻‍♂️

How long was HM A school exactly?? I am going in as a Corpsman and on the description paper given when you sign your contract, it says 19 weeks but in a previous video, you said 4 month. I'm curious as to how long after boot camp did you start A school and graduate I guess.

R.O.T.C SEEM not a marine, she is a sailor. They are not both flags. One is our us flag (our left view of her) the other is a don't tread on me patch.
