Navy lieutenant surprises sister at Florida State graduation

Graduating senior Elizabeth Golightly, 23, got a big surprise when her sister, Navy Lt. Heather Golightly, 30, fresh off a nine-month deployment in Afghanistan, made an unexpected appearance at Florida State University's fall 2013 commencement ceremony. Later in the ceremony, Heather watched Elizabeth receive a bachelor's degree in social sciences from Florida State's College of Social Sciences and Public Policy.

@@maxmikkelsen166 I don't think that's the case. I see to many videos of service personnel in fatigues. When I was in the Navy in the 60's we weren't allowed to wear our work uniforms off the base or ship. But then again they are allowed to take civilian clothes on ship now.

@@couragenyika2257 the Navy has their own pattern of greens now. But several years ago they didn’t. They are allowed to wear the pattern and color of the other branches to help them look blended with unit and environment. Take the Navy corpsman for example. If they are attached to a Marine unit, they are authorized to wear the Marine digital patterns, but they’re branch patch may say US Navy instead.
