Out at sea on the "Blue Ridge" in the early 1970's, the ships laundry was terrible. We boiler tenders did our laundry down in the hole using a new galvanize shit can, hot water, liquid soap, and a broom handle for agitation. Rinse and hung the clothes on the hand rails adjacent to the steam drum. Clothes were dried in about 15 min.

when you are in bootcamp they shave everybodys head ... but after bootcamp you can have your hair longer like mine .... as long as its not longer than 2 inches in bulk or 4 inches in length you are fine, and it cant go over your ears.

I have heard that it is will tricky getting back into the military if you have already been Honorably Discharged. Your best bet is going and talking to a Navy Recruiter.

You can as long as your reenlistment code is RE-1 (or possibly RE-2) on your DD214. You also need you last 3 evals. I'm in the process of trying to get back in the Navy. It's really going to depend on you DD214 and your performance as a Marine.

I recently enlisted. They don't allow tattoos that may be gang related, racially or sexually offensive.. They're tightening up on tattoo. I have one on my wrist and shoulder. Soon anything past the elbow will on be allowed. You have to sign waivers for every tattoo explaining what it means to you, when and where you had it done.

Hell yeah man , Italy is awesome. When you get to your command in Italy be humble and keep your mouth shut. First impressions are everything in the Navy. Learn as fast as you can and pick somebody to be your mentor. Somebody that is mature and experienced. GL !

good ol navy life, before i start... i advise that i cant spell for the life of me so bare with me... but you see what people dont understand or plan on is that things happen.. maintence was gundecked or not done right at all by unqualified people. some ships in the navy are just like jobs in the civilian world sometimes you run across a boss that is just looking for a raise or a promotion and never pays any attention to the workers.. but things do happen.. people laugh at the thought of the CMEO survey which is taken to assess the moral or environment of the ship.. if you have some of these problems such as working to many days in a row or hygine issues then thats the time to do it take the survey leave detailed comments.. no matter how well a leader is doing a negative overall CMEO survey will change things... the survey is viewed by a seperate set of individuals and their main focus in quality of life.. so thats the time to complain.. other than that my Navy life is nothing bad.. i have a hell of a lot more than i came in with (^.^)

+Zachary Banks depends entirely on the deployment, the ac works off of seawater, so if the water's hot so is everyone.

The navy doesnt really have MOS's. The navy has ratings which is pretty much the same thing as an MOS. If you really want to be on an aircraft carrier, your best bet would be Aviation Boatswains mate.

ummmmmmmmmm if you were the Skipper you'd have wifi :( we are allowed to use the internet on the ship , but its limited , and there are certain times throughout the day when it is not available , like during training hours and cleaning stations. Also if you are in a combat zone you will more than likely not have internet access. and even when you can use the internet , most sites are blocked ,,,, surprisingly facebook and reddit wasnt blocked for me on the George Washington :O

JTsuits That's it? Once not long ago, sea sickness made you primed for dip in your soda, and sardines in mustard oil on watch, when you cant run away. It takes allot to roll a carrier that much though. You can hear the smaller ships like the fleet oiler heaving on the radio. That is maybe one of the only good things about being ships company loaning spaces to air dales. Get them at sea, they will screw you when they fly home.

I am an AM2 ... On my first ship the USS Lincoln, the internet was terrible and they didnt let us go on facebook ... the ship that i am attached to now the USS George Washington is a lot better and they let us go on facebook certain times during the day. So i guess it depends on what ship you go to

? i was attached to a Helo squadron while living on the carrier ,,,, out at sea ,,,,, in the middle of the ocean we would work on the helicopters and they would fly missions on and off the ship all day ... we would work 12-16 hours every day on the birds while out at sea

sure, on top of your rack, most people also get a little stand up locker for storage on the ship. Just make sure you always keep it locked up because if you leave it out i guarantee you it will get stolen.
