I was told I’m too smiley at my command too 😀Yes! A positive attitude is so important! If anyone has questions I’m a recruiter. I’ve been in the Navy 11 years. And it’s true. Good days and bad days but the Navy can definitely help you reach your goals! Great video. Consider the reserves after active duty!

@Wendy McGill a positive attitude does help out with your focus and motivation to get you through the day. I'm currently enlisted and stationed in Pensacola Florida as an E-3 Airman/ABE. I joined the Navy for the benefits, college education assistance, travel, to get a new perspective in life, and job training that can transition into the civilian world when my first term is up. I've only been in the Navy for 4 months so far and the experience has been straight forward. However, I wanna get into law enforce when my term is up because I've always wanted to be a cop since I was a kid. I'm like Emily here, I don't want to be in the Navy for too long because one term is good enough for me, yes I'd do it all over again, and no I dont regret joining.

Hello! If you don't mind I have some questions that concern my fiancee. He is a civilian doctor working for the navy in philippines. His contract will end in 2024 but we want to ger married. So is it possible the he gets an emergency leave? Who is supposed to apply him or me? Is there any money to be paid maybe since he is braking the contract? I am really in need of these information thank you so much in advance for your help!

My other brother on the hand loved it and stayed in twice as long than he needed to retire and was VERY highly ranked when he finally got out. I think you're incredibly brave and such a strong woman! Honestly I think they should show your video to high school seniors, it's such a good inspiration for someone that might not be quite sure what they want to do in life, or aren't in a good situation and about to sign a bunch of student loans so they can go to college. It's refreshing to hear your point of view and kind of see that even if you aren't going to re-enlist, and there are things that weren't enjoyable at times, the experience has certainly seemed to have made an impact for the better and will set you up well when you come out of it.

If you didn't serve aboard a ship you weren't in the Navy. Also, if you're smart you won't join during a major conflict. In my case I was required to do at least 2 years in the military. I had been raised in an Air Force town and wasn't too fond of doing more time in one of those. I don't like living in a muddy foxhole so neither the Marines or Army appealed to me either. For some reason I never considered the USCG so I joined the Navy. This was just before the Vietnam war got hot so I spent one year in boot camp and training, another getting the ship out of an overhaul then two years sailing up and down the coast of Vietnam blowing the hell out of the beach. I got to spend 3 days in Hawaii, 1 night in Okinawa and about 45 days, give or take, in port in Japan. Not the best travel itinerary the Navy advertises.
