@Free Thinker you're going to have to defend that charge with some evidence. I've watched about half of his podcasts, and seen nothing on his part that exhibited evidence to support that sort of accusation.
@LiftRunFight
@LiftRunFight 4 жыл бұрын
@Free Thinker I dont have the time right now to go in to the first one, but as far as the military being there to kill people, he's saying we shouldn't be doing half the stuff we are doing, which is less war and involvement. Having the mind that war is a nasty business will cause people to stop using war as a means to advance a political agenda. If it was always full blown hunt and kill every single person involved in a terrorist organization, the public would be less likely to get involved with needless crap. As far as having no ramifications for war crimes, I can guarantee you he doesn't believe that. He's keeping his standard as stated above. Deviating from that and killing innocent people would not be acceptable by him and hes said as much. As far as eddie Gallagher goes, you'd have to look in to the entire case before calling him a war criminal. The dude was present when an ISIS fighter died. He didn't kill him, but even if he did this goes back to his original point. Do you know how many times these full-blown terrorists are captured and then released because of politics? Either get out of the region, or take the murderers that are committing genocide and execute them with a quickness instead of catch and release
@LiftRunFight
@LiftRunFight 4 жыл бұрын
@Free Thinker I guess you got me in; at 6:00 he explicitly says, in context, that it would be taking too far back to the old school to condone what happened to his grandfather. To make an observation, as he did, doesnt mean he condones the point. I definitely wouldn't be cool with letting soldiers kill allies in bar fights, but like with anything, consideration has to be made to the circumstances at play. Life is fragile. Someone can hit you, you hit them back, they fall, and never wake up. You call him a war criminal. You may disagree with his observations and opinions, but to call him a war criminal is too far. The man put his life on the line and served his country in whatever capacity it required. He's seen things, and is privy to things that would likely change your mind if you were to experience and see the same.

@Tenac 300 you sound ignorant. I mean that in the literal translation of the word. Aside from the normal mental health issues associated with suicide (with the psychological comorbidities of bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, addiction, and other personality disorders), PTSD for veterans is the result of terrifying traumatic events. You may be able to use your imagination to supply a terrifying event one may suffer during war time operations. The key word associated with PTSD is TRIGGER. The fact that an individual suffers from PTSD does not mean they are in a 100% state of PTSD at all hours of the day or night. There are triggers that can put them in a mental state. Perhaps they were struck by an IED while in a convoy and they were listening to their favorite song right before the IED detonated. Now, if they hear that favorite song on the radio it TRIGGERS memories of that traumatic and terrifying moment when they lost two of their battle buddies and their left leg. These thoughts then roll into the questions most soldiers have at these times: "Why didn't I see the IED?"; "Why did my brothers die, but I lived?"; "How will my wife still love me when I can't run and play with the kids like the other fathers?"; "What could I have done to save them?" These thought patterns lead to dark places. Places I can tell jackasses like you have never seen and could not compute. So instead of being a keyboard warrior and talking shit about a veteran being a coward for committing suicide when they are suffering from PTSD, go to your local VFW and say that to a veterans face. You sit behind your computer or on your phone and talk out of your ass, wrapped in the protection of anonymity. If you're ever in the San Antonio area, head on in to VFW post 76. I'll buy you your first shot of liquid courage. We can discuss your ideas cowardice at your leisure. Sincerely, Just Another Smith U.S. Army '95-01

I was a Russian Linguist from 84-92. While I was in the military tried "no stress" basic training. They could only drop for x number of push-ups during any given day. No foul language and several other changes. Out of that cycle of basic training, over 80% either recycled or were put out of the service. War is hell and we have to train like we are at war.

Only 20 mins in and I am loving this guy!! He is so BANG on with everything when it comes to women being in any special ops with a group that is 99% male. Women should be in their own group at all times. From having a separate bathroom to menstrual cycles it is a huge problem in a man's world. Once you add vagina you have a pack of wolves that can smell that cycle a mile away and they will fight for it. The first one to poke it wins and then everyone else is pissed and problems start. From the guys that are trying to include the female to the guys that have a problem with her. So many more problems when you put both sexes in any military setting. This coming from a woman that dances circles around the men in my field. So glad I'm not in any type of combat or ops position.

Male/female divisions vs co-Ed integration. I was a sailor for five years. There is so much truth in this discussion. This conversation is so honest and hot it scares liberal snowflakes. Strategic war fighting for the military should always preceded the political controls over the military. Sun Tzu - Know thy enemy. Because we are so polarized and politically divided, our enemies see the cracks/gaps of distraction and infiltrate our weaknesses. We have to stop widening the base. It’s not sexist, it is strategically ineffective.

Mike buddy i am sure happy to hear finally somebody in the Pod Cast and or Talk Show people who either don’t have the stones to tell the truth because nobody else has the stones to say what you are saying. Even the Pod Cast host even cant go where you are going knowing good and well he knows the truth with his back ground in the Airborne Services, So I applaud you brother..

I listened to what I perceive as the top Mike Drop Podcast episodes in the last few days alone, so this is perfect. Mike Ritland is a cool guy. Thank you!

I love the top tier special ops guys because they take no prisoners with how they look at things. I felt the same way he does when it came time for me to either continue going to college or re-enlist in the military in the early 90's. I do not know if I would have wanted to deal with how the Army standards had changed. I served at the time when the old Army of Vietnam changed to the previous military of the Cold War. I loved it. I would have never changed a thing about what I want through with BASIC. Mentally I was prepared to deal with the stress of combat from how I was trained.
