@@frogmantactical agreed with original commenter. Many of these videos people will bash on the film for things that are sometimes painfully obvious "audience aid". Or just the logistics of the shot needed one thing one way or the other (thinking helos here, at altitude, not going to show on camera). I like that you "get it" and understand some things are simply done for the audience to understand what's happening, see what's happening, or simply to help lubricate the stories progression.

You oughta read “Gray Work: Confessions of a Paramilitary Spy” written by a guy SMOKED by the liberal media in hit pieces who accused him of lying, but he’s the real deal who happened to come out against Obama. But he wrote the GRS sops used by the guys in Benghazi years later.

@@BruceMusto I think the production team for Act of Valor had been making training films for the military, if not the Seals themselves, and had developed their trust to "get it right" in an action film. Sometimes there are "Hollywood people" who aren't actually Hollywood people in Hollywood. lol O Dark Thirty and 13 Hours on the other hand were obviously established Hollywood A-list crews.

Every once in awhile in Pearl, the Seals would use a ship in port for some training. Approaching the ship, putting simulated explosives on it. Whatever type of training they were doing. The duty section on the ship would of course be alerted and we would station people topside with lights and I think once we even had some night vision. This was all many years ago, in the 80's and 90's. We never saw them. Never had any idea where they were. For all we knew, they could have been back at their team building drinking beers. Probably not though. Good video. Thanks.

At 7 min, the guy in the car worked for DS, in the behind the scenes it says how that guy was so banged up he couldn’t get information correct. Tig and Tanto said they told him to go left over and over for about a min, then the guy still turned right and got ambushed. They said that’s extremely real when a person is just overwhelmed and not used to that environment. Nothing but love and Respect for you!🙏🏼🇺🇸🙏🏼 Great video man!

Villages at night have like a "song" that everyone there knows unconsciously. When an outside influence comes in the tone of that song changes and everyone feels it. Crickets, birds, cats, dogs, footsteps, clothing movements etc etc etc. You have to be exceptional to be there and not disrupt it and be detected.

Excellent breakdown. Not rushed, great descriptions. Have a couple friends that served on teams, one of became a friend in college. He thought I had the right mentality & wanted me to go for SEALs back in the day. Honestly I regret not doing so. Love you guys, some of the most solid dudes I know I can trust. If you're young, have or are willing to have a no quit attitude & think you can handle the life (it's going to suck a lot at times) then go for it once you've decided. Don't hesitate & stall around.

Had the opportunity to meet some TEAMS guys in La Maddalena, Sardinia when an FA sub moored up next to our Sub Tender. I had countless conversations with these guys, and even showed them where the local watering hole was on the Island. These guys were normal human beings. They didn’t have wings, Marvel super hero powers, wear a cape, etc….but they were Alpha Males all the way. Not one time did any of them act arrogant or condescending towards me. They were just really cool dudes who treated me like I was a friend

3:13... I chuckled. I am a civilian, but I live in the North East in the woods and I do the same thing. It has gotten to the point that when I am outside at night and I don't hear them any more (usually uncounciously), I know something big is in that area. There were two seperate times that it ended up being a black bear. I found this out because both times, I had gone inside and 5-15 minutes after, my game camera caught them walking through the area I was in. It was my fault because I was sitting right near the "animal highway" in my yard, haha.

God Bless You , Shipmate . I was a surface fleet OS from 1985 to 1995 . During my time I was a member of the SSDF on a DDG and a CG , and an MP in a forward deployed port . On a few occasions we were the training targets for enemy swimmer attacks . For the sake of national security I will not divulge the US Navy fleet's methods of defending their assets . But I will say that being a combat diver is probably the most demanding job in any military branch , and defense against combat swimmers is a specialized type of warfare .

I really loved this breakdown, and I'm pretty pleased with myself for noticing a lot of the same inconsistencies. During my time in the army I had the pleasure of working with our 5th SF group out of Campbell, and as for breaching we used det cord, one thing I learned after being on both the giving and receiving end is that the door is not only an obstacle, it's also a weapon. Thanks for making this, I really enjoyed this movie, especially knowing these were real SEALs, and wondering how much of the combat was based on their guidance and input.

Awesome breakdown man. I love when actual SF guys breakdown how real some movies are, it gives us civies a little window into actual situations. You should definitely do some more like, Lone Survivor, 12 Strong, Black Hawk Down, etc. My only "critique" is you should put the title of the movie you're reviewing somewhere in screen so the viewers can watch the full movie at another time. Lastly I was surprised Zero Datk Thirty was made only because Seal Team 6, like Delta, operations are heavily classified, & they aren't usually shown to the public. Which is probably why there are almost no movies with Delta members or team 6. Keep up the good work

Wasn't Special Operations, but I did train as a Special Weapons Team member in an 8 inch SP firing battery between Fall of 1981 to January 1986. I had to train not only to assemble the weapon, but also secure it. None of the OpFor we faced during training seemed to have an idea of how to take us out. Every time I had to deal with such a situation I would do the easiest thing to disable the device. The weapon was inoperable minus some components that were easy to carry so those were what I had my team take off with when our assembly area was attacked.

This movie was filmed in part at Stennis Space Center in Mississippi inside the SBT-22 training area. The SEAL/SWCC “actors” are real active duty team guys. The scene with the SOC/Rs was shot with live SRTA rounds just like we do with live fire dynamic training. As real as it is, you can’t avoid the Hollywood aspect.

Armorer here, loved the video but one note. The RPG doesn’t have a minimum arming distance. They are issued with a cap that troops use to avoid accidental detonation but if you were to slam a RPG rocket on a table and depress the fuse it would explode.
@frogmantactical
@frogmantactical 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. 🙏 It depends on what RPG. Some don’t and some do. RPG7 is a great example. It has an arming distance of 5 meters. Most European RPGs do have a save arming distance.

I have heard some testimonies related to night jungle fighting where it was so dark, that some times opposing forces stumbled into each other that it came down to who pulled the trigger first cama out alive

Who pulled the trigger first and who got the first mag change done first. You read some of the stuff from SOG and LRRPs teams in Vietnam and they almost never shouldered their rifles because the NVA was literally just the other side of a dense bush away and went through hours long firefights without seeing anything other then occasional muzzle flashes and glimpses of the NVA units hunting and attacking them because of the dense foliage.
@gabejm8617
@gabejm8617 2 жыл бұрын
@@keithsmith6252 according to the incident report the point of the patrol walked right into an enemy position standing on night watch post , basically point blank. Those guys did not stand a chance. That is how dark it is in the rain forest.

Would like to see you review the SEAL Team tv series. I know they had actual special forces to consult and I know they actually listened (mostly) to what was being said instead of Hollywood BSing everything for dramatic effect. There's a couple of scenes in different eps that just give you the absolute chills (or maybe that's just me and my Canadian reg force experience, not to mention the typical military humor). Two in particular stand out to me.

@@frogmantactical @Frogman Tactical Might I suggest Season 1 E2 "Other Lives" And this is why we don't blow shit up indiscriminately no matter how cool it looks on tv E8 "The Exchange" the joys of orders not lining up directly with your moral compass/personal beliefs. E9 "Rolling Dark" creative three way in all the wrong ways. Or, alternatively, I'm not sure that's the intended use but we'll go with it. Season 2 Eps4-5 "All that Matters" and "Say Again Your Last" (continuation of previous ep), last part of Ep5 just chills. School is cancelled, not the snow day you were hoping for. Mass cas events suck. It's a good broad overview of different things that a team might encounter or be called on. Better then most tv shows which inevitably devolve to bad guy crash and bash then hero party. The joys of actually listening to the people you consult when making a series. There's many others, several seasons worth in fact. Some good room clearing and actually covering eachother, stacking on doors, muzzle awareness. Nothing quite turns me off in a military movie/tv series as seeing a friendly pointing their weapon at another friendly. Actually recognizing that HALO/HAHO jumps are two different things and it's not always just jump out and pull (or be on a static line...I hate F*ing HATE static lines). There's some unrealistic shit too. But it is a tv series.
