My brother and I enlisted the military about a year apart. He was in the Marines for 8 years, and I was in the Army for 8 years. He got out of the Marines, about just about 3 years later, disappeared completely. Turned out he was in jail for 60 days for a probation violation..he got put on probation for DUI, criminal damage to property, and drunk & disorderly conduct in public. Lost a damn good job because of it. His girlfriend/fiance of 6 years, already having a very toxic relationship with her anyway, left him and immediately started seeing a guy who was in supervisor position over him at the job he lost. He had a few months left on probation when he violated it for getting arrested for another drunk & disorderly, and trespassing charges. Since he only had a few months left of probation they made him sit in jail for 2 months and then terminated his probation. After those 60 days in jail he went to a short 30 day inpatient treatment rehab, then a sober living house for a while. Then our Dad got a letter him, after about 3 years after he got arrested on that probation violation, and while we knew he had went to jail and then rehab, no one had really seen or spoken to him since he wouldn't call, accept visits, or even so much as send a text or email to anyone. He wrote to our Dad and he was in the French Foreign Legion! He spent 10 years there. Kept his new identity, and is now a French citizen, living in France, with a wife and 2 little boys. The Legion took him in and gave him a completely new life.

Dude, the fact that your ‘ol man did 30+ years and that he had to be in and STAY in great shape for the duration is an accomplishment all by itself! To do PT multiple times per week, every week for over 30 years without sustaining injury/developing medical problems such as bad knees, hips, or a thousand other repetitive motion injuries, is no easy thing to do! I did 22 years and was medically retired due to back injuries which eventually precluded my ability to workout and maintain the level of conditioning required in my job. That cost me advancement twice and, after 18+ years at operational units, I finished up my career running a barracks in between surgeries and light duty lol. Thankfully I was able to make it past the 20 year/eligible for retirement mark! Idk how folks like your dad do it! Good luck and good genes I guess lol. Anyway, your father has my respect. You should be proud of him.

Congratulations as I previously said!🎊 I loved the interview and shared it with others just like I do with all your content. I do later want to email you because we had to have crossed paths with one another because you mentioned in the interview that you worked with retired Navy SEAL Lt. Commander Fuller who was also my mentor when I was boat crew leader in Las Vegas. I was a Class 273 medical drop with a recommendation letter to return, and finished out my Navy active duty contract as a SAR Rescue Swimmer. All of my packets to return were denied based on big Navy bureaucracy bullshit which for them is like a wet dream come true because their BS excuse was always that their “DENIAL WAS BASED ON MY YEAR GROUP.” Just like those geniuses at JAG decided to spend $2000 from taxpayers to see if a warrior like yourself was taking steroids as if your profession was that of an NFL, MLB, or an NBA professional athlete. I can’t understand how anyone would equate that those two totally different situations are in the least bit similar at all!

Everyone thats served knows guys like this are the best buddies a man can have in battle. The best warriors are usually rough characters. The modern military thinks they have no need for them, and as of now maybe they dont. But, when SHTF and a proper war pops off these guys will be in high demand.

Because it’s a piss poor reflection on the unit. Discipline is one of the most important things to have in any military organization. Getting hammered and causing problems any time you get liberty WILL affect your performance at work, makes the locals have a negative view of the unit, and takes people away from training and deployments when the civilian authorities have to deal with it. The only reason guys like this get away with it is that they represent a MASSIVE investment in training and equipment that we can’t afford to lose. It’s a shame that we can’t, though, because they damn sure should be expected to be morally upright, responsible people. A lot of these guys (certainly not all) are just antisocial types so this behavior is practically inevitable.

Literally this guy's BRAND now is of havingnbeen taught and LEARNED his life lessons. Or are you one of those good people who expects that the deadliest warriors should or even COULD be perfectly behaved their entire careers? Not saying I hope for these guys to be getting into trouble... but the amount of spirit, determination, & sheer testosterone required to even graduate BUDs also tends to show up in problem social interactions/behavior. Fact is, he even says here that he NEEDED a second chance at a career. His subsequent success would seem to indicate that he learned his lesson, right?
