I was taught in scuba classes that waves come in sets of seven. When doing shore entries, it seemed to hold true - seven breakers, then a gap, then seven more.

I love the fact that the title is “Bud/s preparation” and the thumbnail is Jason in swim trunks by the pool, taking a selfie!!! 🤣Hahahaha. That was a great choice of of pics for the thumbnail, I love it!!! Great video too by the way. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a navy seal go over swimming techniques for kids looking to go to buds. This was a great idea. Maybe a second video could be going over the knots you have to tie underwater or some of the other basic pool comp stuff kids could practice at home and start getting familiar with? I taught my kids drown proofing when they were 3 years old (without tying their hands or feet, of course). It really helped their confidence in the water. I think going over some of the basics would be a great primer for kids, especially those that aren’t super comfortable in the water yet.

I've never seen anyone break down how to swim efficiently. Efficiency alone makes or breaks virtually everything from 100 million dollar construction projects to the cartilage in your knees. In this case practicing to swim efficiently could save your life in a large number of situations. Including the fact that terribly inefficient swimmers like me look more and more like a wounded flounder to sharks. Thank you for taking the time to put this out.

Spending time in the water, enjoying the feel of it, understanding what your body does in it is the key. We're all different densities and shapes. Take time to feel what your hands and feet do in your motions. Maximize that and minimize the resistance to become better than the other 99%. The key for me was to find out how long I could stay under, still be relaxed, not panic and breathe when I come up, go quickly back under again. When I found out the time frame for shaking, staying calm, how much of me needed to be above water, how much could be below water and still breathe.... I began LOVING the peace in the under. I went from 15 seconds to 2.10 seconds under water without having to come up stationary. Without panicking.

Hey, thanks for the video. For the underwater part, why a frog kick instead of a dolphin kick? Is there a tactical reason behind this? The type of kit you would be wearing makes that not efficient or the stamina of that kick because of the distance variable. Cheers again.
@frogmantactical3 жыл бұрын
Yes, when you are geared out, a dolphin kick can’t be sustained. Remember, we insert up to a mile or two from shore at times carrying 100-200lbs of gear, fighting waves and currents, so efficiency is key. Now with that being said, there are times you switch methods in a swim insert out of being tired or environmental change. Another consideration is fins. Sometimes you wear fins, sometimes you don’t. This video is focused on BUD/S prep so that’s why I only covered these few topics. Have a great day and God bless
@simmo76703 жыл бұрын
@@frogmantactical Thanks for taking the time to respond mate! Thanks for that info, I imagined that was the reason for the frog kick. Fair dinkum, 200lbs is a damn bit of kit to be moving for 2 miles in the ocean. God bless mate.
