How cool to actually see this in person - you'd think this would be happening at some heavily militarized island secluded from anything but it's right there at a beach community.
@ka6dal

Right, our beach is right next door to the SEAL training place where the BUDS candidates qualify. They swim a course about 100 yards off shore parallel to the beach for 2-3 miles each way.

I was in BUD/S class 223. Whenever we'd run in front of the Hotel Del we'd have to behave. No cadences with swear words and stuff like that. Instructors would tone things down if they had a reason to yell or anything.

Made me think about the time a guy leading cadence in the army in 84-85 sang something vulgar. Our captain wasted no time shutting that down. We were running PT once and a good friend was singing cadence in his Elvis voice. Try running when you’re doubling over laughing. I almost fell out of formation. Good memories.

@@wathaet1386 Those particular rocks aren't as bad as others, in regards to slipping, but it's still not easy to climb on. The main concern here is the large gaps between rocks and you can get pushed by the waves while standing in between rocks leading to some pretty horrific leg breaks.

That training looks like hell. Recently two navy seals died when one fell off the side of a ship they were boarding due to high waves that knocked him off into the water and the other disappeared into the water when he jumped in to help his friend. Instructors can only give recruits a taste of what they can expect when they graduate and move on for missions in combat.

@@treyvaboi17 In a perverted way it is. Try this at home. Fill you bathtub with cold water and dump a 10 pound bag of ice in it. See you howl long you can stand it. Or find a thermometer and make the water temp of the bathtub 50 degrees. That's the temp of the Pacific. Lie in the tub until you can't take it any more. Then take an anal thermometer and take a reading. Don't use a mouth thermometer; it's not accurate enough and your chattering teeth may break the glass thermometer and you could swallow mercury - that is a death sentence. If your body temp is above 90 degrees, get back in. Once your temperature is in the high 80's, you're done. Go do the O course with sand in your crotch. Do a little log PT. Knock out some pushups in increments of 20, 30, or 50, depending on the phase you're in. Five mile timed run. Suffer from sleep deprivation, which is its own form of pain. Then do the Pacific Bathtub Challenge again in 3 hours. Every weekday for 6 months.
