Yup! Stories like this or a child selling lemonade for her own brain surgery or that rather elderly pizza delivery guy who couldn't retire, etc - they're presented as uplifting because people stepped up, but neglects the depressing situation existing at all

Our government does. If he has Medicare, which for his age he should, they cover DME's (durable medical equipment). The only way they would not have covered a new one is if he had not had the one that broke long enough. I think it's every 3 or so years you can replace it.

@@imjuliewaters You just helped my cause. Why should there be any term limits? He is a vet. He is elderly. He needs to be able to get around. Being able to get around and feel independent will keep him strong and happy. Strong and happy will make him live longer, and he is less susceptible to bed sores and muscle deteteration. He needs something to keep him healthy. There should not be a countdown clock for him to claim his benefits. I should have been clearer. We need a single payer, universal health care system. Medicare is a joke. Medicade is a joke. It is all very dystopian. I'm not a fan.
