What medals cross over between the branches? Like what army medals can someone in the marines or navy be awarded, and vice versa.

Almost all medals can Worn by different branches with certain exceptions for each branch of the service. For example, the following awards may not be worn on the Marine Corps uniform: Coast Guard commandant's letter of commendation ribbon, Coast Guard Bicentennial unit commendation, Army NCO professional development ribbon, Army service ribbon, Army reserve components overseas training ribbon, Air Force longevity service award ribbon, Air Force NCO professional military education graduate ribbon, Air Force basic military training honor graduate ribbon, Air Force small arms expert marksmanship ribbon, Air Force training ribbon, Navy rifle marksmanship ribbon, navy pistol marksmanship ribbon, Coast Guard rifle marksmanship ribbon, and the Coast Guard pistol marksmanship ribbon. All other service awards. may be worn on the Marine Corps uniform. The only awards that you cannot wear. on the Navy uniform are the Coast Guard commandant's letter of commendation ribbon, the Air Force combat readiness medal, the outstanding airman of the year or ribbon, and the Air Force recognition ribbon.

I received all the usual "ghi-dunkh" medals. Never saw a reason to display them.

Having them shows you are a citizen who served, which places you in a special group of Americans.

If a person who took part in the Cuban missile crisis kept serving for a few more months does that make him eligible for the vcm (Vietnam campaign medal)

@@veteransmedalsworkshop-moa4376 but you said every Vietnam veteran is entitled to the NDSM, Vietnam Service Medal with atleast one campaign star and the Vietnam campaign medal of which he served during the Vietnam war so how is he not a Vietnam veteran?
