Can't believe how naive these people are! I agree with everyone demanding them to keep their little children away! The boy wouldn't stop slapping the monkey (and you could tell he did it purposely to harm it) and there were several really dangerous moments. Even with a pretty patient monkey like that things can turn out bad. Then both the monkey and (even worse) the toddler might get seriously harmed!

I love Hoy so much. She reminds me of my all time favorite monkey Sok. I was so sad when sok died. Mr.Lin is a jerk for abandoning Hoy like that. She has been through so much and she is more comfortable being with humans than a wild troop. I wish someone would take her home and give her a good steady loving home. I’m not one to think people should raise monkeys but, if you have a situation where one was raised as a pet for many years and then dropped in the wild then, I don’t think it’s fair. She would be more content and safe in a family environment. At least she is staying in another pagoda with some people and animals. I just hope they let her stay.

This is dangerous. It seems cute but iit is a wild animal many times stronger than a human man. Hoy is interested in the boy. The little girl keeps trying to hug Hoy.. Hoy Cleary does not like that. She is going to annoy Hoy on the wrong day and the girl will get hurt. Also the boy is going to hit her like that one day and she might fight back. She might want to to take the boy and start dragging him on the ground. I saw when the children surrounded her, she got nervous. Wild animals are unpredictable. It only takes one time for someone to get hurt. Please be more careful with your children. Views aren't worth one of your children getting disfigured by a monkey., even if it makes you money. At least teach your children to respect the powerful monkey and not hit, grab, pull arms & tail etc or to put their face in the monkeys face. I saw the girl do that .. Hoy could bite her face! I am truly concerned for your children. Please be more careful.

Monkeys don't pets and above all, such small children are not left alone with a monkey. Hoy is trusting but not a pet and certainly not a cuddly toy. She has already bitten because it is too much for her. You should keep the boy away from her, he's hitting Hoy. The next time she bites and is punished for defending herself.

Of course the macaque tried to bite the girl, it was a gentle discipline nip to warn the kid not to pester the monkey - just like any mother macaque would do with an infant macaque. The kid was pestering the monkey, I do not blame it for setting a distinct boundary. This macaque is very gentle and sweet - far too gentle for her own good and she should be kept with humans in a sanctuary because wild macaques are not her kind anymore thanks too humans interfering. She did, however, show normal macaque behavior and its not the macaque's fault, it's the parents fault for letting the kids far too near the monkey no matter how gentle it is because its NOT A PET. NOT A PERSON - IT IS A WILD ANIMAL foolishly habituated to humans. This macaque is sweet and gentle - the lip movement she displays is her telling the people she means no threat. This being said, she means no threat in the macaque animal world. She can be a threat in the sense that macaques carry diseases that can infect humans and even a nip is not good although not meant as an aggressive thing.

Hoy is so patient. Was she a mother herself at one point? I know she lived with Mr Lin for a bit, not sure if she ever had her own offspring but she handles the little ones as if she's used to infants (female macaques get hair pulled, hands and feet in the face, etc from their own babies just like humans do lol). When the younger one baps her on the head, she literally just reaches out to grab his hand gently and stop him. What a great animal. Normally I'd be a little apprehensive letting a small child play alone with a wild macaque but this old Ms. Hoy is very maternal and gentle (I like Sok a lot as well :))
