I am sure in the State of North Carolina, there are bodies who protect owner's rights in situation like these to act against dishonest builders. For god's sake at least in this situation leave your Indian mentality aside that "it's mere 1500$, I will forget it blah blah" and fight for your rights. I am doing the same here in Montreal against the builder from whom I purchased a new condo.

There are always Issues with every developer. They are too busy and not enough labor, so not surprised. Just have to be patient but firm with these guys. Don’t give up, lage raho inke pichhe.

We have Tarion in Ontario to deal with the builder. Research if there is any such agency in US. Call a home inspector, get his report. Take evidence for notifying the builder with report attached. There are lawyers who won’t charge you. He will get % of the compensation n the defect s would be fixed. Also if there is any safety hazard for the kids, record it.

Same story everywhere . It is ridiculous . Did you not get inspection before closing?? Don’t get money back. Talk in your neighbors and look for a a community lawsuit. We have done that in our neighborhood. Small things are ok but god forbid you get major issues in this year before warranty you think you will be able to bear that. Go up the ladder to make the complaints .
