As an Avs fan, it was somewhat hard of a pill to swallow knowing that the offensive juggernaut D man in Barrie was traded and I had a feeling Kerfoot was going to get a 20 goal season in his 3rd year. However, the Avs needed a proven top 6 guy and they have that in Kadri now. Both teams are better because of this trade.

What your not taking into consideration is when kadri sign his contract compared to when nylander signed his. If kadri was RFA last season what do you think his contract would look like?? I get that this is a sentimental for a lot of Leafs fans, myself included. Kadri has been on the team longer than any other Leaf, and while it may be sad to see him go, I think that in the end it's for the better and I believe that this was the right decision to make. Kadri wasn't really ever one of my favourites. I still associate his name with Kessel, Reimer, Lupul, Bernier, Santorelli, and the others who made up the terrible Leaf teams of the 2010s. I hope he does well in Colorado.

@Don Avan Goals are worth more than assists, Matthews plays the hardest forward position at center. Goes head to head against the other teams best players more often. Matthews has not even peaked yet. Looked at the goals he puts up all the while being injured for parts of 2 seasons.

Avalanche fans should get used to Kadri being unable to control his emotions in big games. Suspended twice against the same team in different years in the same area of the ice for dirty hits. BAD TRADE this contract is GOLD and leafs D is nowhere near where it needs to be with this trade. Kadri was coming into his own and leafs go out and get Tavares which is now handicapping the entire team left and right. Tavares coming to the leafs was not part of the plan and if it didn’t happen everything would be FINE right now and they could have signed Marner, AND a free agent D or traded for one.. Chewy Ltd don’t get me wrong I think Kadri did well for the Leafs. Having said that I think the leafs may have been a perfect fit for Kadri and him moving anywhere else only limits his time in the league. He will start top 6 with limited success. By Xmas he will be third line and his season will improve a lil but ultimately he will end up the year on the 4th line.
