Hindenburg was from Prussia and served as the German supreme military commander during World War One. He was conservative and an ardent supporter of the monarchy, and was elected President in 1925. He was an ardent foe of Hitler and the National Socialists at first, until he changed position and appointed Hitler to the office of Chancellor in 1933. Soon after, the Reichstag was burned down and Hitler was able to push through the Enabling Act which gave him MUCH more power. Hindenburg died in 1934 right after the Night of the Long Knives and then Hitler was able to combine the offices of President and Chancellor and have himself declared as Supreme Leader for life.

I've got a few of them, in addition to silver I'm a WWII buff, some of the other coins are prettier. History is important to remember and not try to rewrite, if you erase history you will likely repeat it

62.5% silver, which is less silver than the empire coins which were 90% silver (1 empire mark = 5 grams silver). The inscription reads "Gemeinnutz geht vor Eigennutz" which translates to "Common Good Takes Priority over Self-interest." The script is indicative of the movement to place the state over the individual.

2:15 "Reich" means "realm". It is still used today for the German words for Austria (Österreich) and France (Frankreich).

National socialism was basically the precursor of social market economy. If the allies had not started the war (US ambassador Bullitt pressuring France and Britain to give a guarantee to Poland, which made Poland confident enough to wage war against Germany for Danzig, which led to Britain and France declaring war on Germany), then the Nazis would not have a ruined reputation. What is taught and believed about the historical Nazis today is mostly Allied war propaganda, not truth. The Nuremberg trials were sham trials, unsubstantiated gossip was allowed as evidence.

The 5 Reichsmark Hindenburg and the 2 Reichsmark was only produced from 1936-1939. Yes there ist 5 Reichsmark 1935 Hindenburg but with an ordinary eagle on it. From 1940-1945 are no 2 Reichsmark or 5 Reichsmark produced.

The original swastika was actually a good symbol and not associated with murder and evil. It was Sanskrit and meant "good luck" and it was completely horizontal. Hitler rotated the symbol 45 degrees and put it against a white background and you know the rest. The symbol was used prior to 1920 and did not connotate evil at all.

I almost bought the same coin in the 5 mark the other day. Felt a little weird about it and he was asking $30 .thought that was a little high but idk ? What's the saying " if you don't recognize history you're doomed to repeat it ". Should I go back and get it at that price ?

Yes,go back & get atleast 1 of em,due to the rarity,after so many things containing the swastika were destroyed.I always like to buy atleast 2 of each coin i buy,but usually 3 of em,(so I could sell 2,eventually,& keep 1,for my forever collection, to pass on,to a young niece of mine,when I pass on). In Switzerland 5-10 swiss francs for a 2 Reichsmark. I've got over 25. It's in 625 silver. 5 Reichsmark so around 12-20 swiss francs in 900 silver. I've got 25 of it.

2:11 First pronunciation the eu in Deutsches sounds like the oi in toilette and the rest was good. The ch in Reich was a bit wrong but that sound doesn't exist in english. The second pronunciation was more like my dialect i speak in Switzerland (i'm a swiss german guy).

I'm from Oklahoma and the 45th infantry of Oklahoma had that on their shoulder. It was an Indian simple.

Yeah I don't know if I mentioned it in the video but I did learn it was used on military uniforms, apparently Coke used it at some point too. I just looked up the 45th patch. Very interesting stuff. "The yellow swastika on a square background of red symbolized the Spanish Heritage of the 4 Southwestern states that made up the membership of the 45th-Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, and Arizona."

Frankly I'm amazed your LCS didn't know the history of these coins. They were the most popular war trophy in Europe. Even Russians collected them but if the troops got caught with them and didn't turn them in they could be shot. Russians that is. They melted them to make silver shot cups for vodka I suppose. I hope mine came home in the pocket of some GI that survived. That makes me proud to own it,

I also have many silver coins, American silver dollars ,& halves. I sought out to obtain rare items, that would hopefully increase in value. Fingers 🤞 ! (I am not a Nazi,or sympathizer-b.t.w., Just a collector of rare items, & silver coins, that would hopefully go up in value. )
