I bought more Nazi silver coins...why would I do that?

Disclaimer: Not a Nazi. Apparently we live in an era where that is not blindly obvious. I bought more of these reichsmark coins from 1936-1939 for a tube which I hope to fill! I think they are awesome. Please note, awesome does not mean I love Nazis. I repeat, I do not love Nazis. In fact, I would go as far as to say I don't even like them. So there!

Like the other commenter said, Hugo Boss was a just a manufacturer. One of several contracted to follow the designs and specifications of the Nazi party. Boss didn’t transition to becoming a fashionable brand until after the war. Previously they mostly made uniforms for mailmen and other workers.

Excellent review and history here. Thank You. I have a Browning Hi-Power 1911 Pistol that my Great Grandfather brought home from WW2. It has the Swastika engraved above the trigger well and on the slide. It was produced under Nazi Occupation in Belgium in 1942-1943. My Great Grand Father took it off a German Officer that was captured during the Battle of the Bulge in 1944 - it was in a Luger holster which i also have :)

I lost family members during the war, but as for Intrinsic value, I am a collector of "COINAGE" regardless; it Is the historical value I collect. Being a coin collector & I find this part of my heritage of Intrest & I am dammed. If that offends people, my family paid the ultimate price. Why do I have to explain what others may think? I have a right to go through my forebear's past as & when I choose to. As I lost many, I believe that says It all!

Thanks for sharing. I understand needing to be sensitive to other peoples feelings on this issue of Germany's causing WWII. Although two of my aunts spent two years each in concentration camps. And one uncle died in Stalingrad, the other was in the Waffen SS. My father was in Third Armored. Still I don't advertise too loudly my little collection of Two and Five Mark coins. They did produce high quality coinage for a short period. We should not ever forget what happened. I know for sure. Go to Mauthausen or Treblinka, extrermination camps, and see for yourself. Anyway the G is for Karlsruhe and the F is for Stuttgart. Keep your eye's peeled for very rare mint error coins from the Third Reich. So far I've found two. Both with obvious doubling. Almost unheard of, thats sweet for me. All the best. BTW the Two Mark coins are .625 AG. and the Five mark coins are .900 AG.

Sir. as I understand things the Gi's and Britts marching across Europe would search every kia and some civilians for silver coins. The Russians collected them also. Story goes the Russians melted the for shot cups for vodka.I look at it like this. If a GI brought that home he made it. Excuse my spelling and such but you get the idea

Probably not but I think that’s a little different, those have been pulled from the mouths of dead bodies or sometimes while they were still alive. These are just coins, even fundamentally evil organisations need to transact, and as I say, I think things like this need to be preserved as a reminder. No dude you didnt buy them for the silver because these coins if you judge them by silver cost 200-300% more than the silver content, and you dont have none of the 1934/35/36 coins that dont have the swastika and are much cheaper with the same silver content. You just like them for the swastika because otherwise you would be buying them aswell as buying 1 OZ pure silver bullion coins

Stacker Noob UK There are a lot of fakes out there, most of Reichstag coins were melted down after the war, I recommend getting them XRF’ed at a local bullion dealer to determine their silver content

@@Imblyatman ah i see what he means now! Appreciate the concern but I have checked these all over myself quite thoroughly. They are all exactly as expected diameter and thickness-wise. That married with the fact they are within 1% of the expected weight of 8 g (i.e theyre all between 7.94 and 8.07g) means that they are almost certainly real (since its hard to fake weight without affecting size and vice versa). I do have a guy who can XRF these for me but as they are Im content! Cheers
