I just watched “Downfall” and that particular scene and it’s very cringing that I didn’t even know who he was but just seeing his field grey Nazi SS uniform that he was “FOR SURE” apart of the inner circle of Adolf Hitler as his SS rank was SS-Obergruppenführer .. the wife and children MOST LIKELY had “NO IDEA” their deathly fate was about to occur by their Nazi Mass Murdering war criminal father & husband. I actually had “shed tears for the wife & children” in that scene 🥺

@chuckbuckbobuck10 ай бұрын
Throw in his sadistic subordinate Kurt Franz as well. He didn't get nabbed by the West Germans till 1960 which ensured he wouldn't be hanged for his numerous crimes. To add injury to insult, unlike Stangl who died in prison, Franz was released to live his last few years of life in freedom. This for a person who personally killed 600-800 people before they even got to the gas chambers.

From Canada: Fact: The "racial hygiene" thing originated in the United States in the 1920's and was called "Eugenics.". The Germans picked up on it in the 1930's and it took off. I'm now 90 years old. I can remember my father speaking about it quite enthusiastically, claiming it was wrong to mix the various races. It never rubbed off on me or my siblings, but apparently it was a thing in Canada in the 1920's as well.

Thank you History Channel. The Holocaust was never discussed at school although programs like The World at War were part of my TV education. There were only two Jewish children in my class at school. Both of them gifted scholars and one an excellent sportsman. Their need to assimilate is largely part of their great success without turning their back on their religion. I had the privilege of living in Israel for a year, ‘88-‘89. It defined me in a way I can’t explain. These videos of these tough and resilient people remind me of the remarkable country I lived and worked in. I had the opportunity of visiting Egypt as well. The difference in culture is understandable and the mutual antagonism is palpable on the border. As a none practicing Christian I had no interest in Jerusalem, finding it far too tense. Tel Aviv though is a long party living on the beach and in the European bubble of hostels that stretched along the boulevard. The women were beautiful and the men were relaxed. It was pure hedonism far away from the realities of Gaza and the West Bank. I saw first hand the treatment of Palestinians and too my shame I did nothing to intervene. My only concern was my next immediate pleasure. At 20 years old what else is there? War seemed very far away.
@MrBagpipes10 ай бұрын
I have lived in a Jewish community and they done the opposite of assimilate. My partner then was very Northern European looking. She was devoid of any interest in politics or religion but she came to resent the way the Jews would habitually push into her on the street, ignore her in their shops and were generally bad mannered. She had a very Jewish sounding surname but in reality it is an ancient Saxon name found only in North Staffordshire. When I went to the local doctors to register they were quite aggressive in their attempts to make me go somewhere else. I then said my fiancé was registered with them and told them her surname, they then could not do enough for me. But they were wrong, I wasn't a gentile marrying a Jew. Pathetic behaviour. The doctor was a nice guy, a Jew born in Dublin who then moved abroad for marriage. The last 24 years I've worked in a city with a huge Muslim population. I feel very comfortable around them. Warm, hospitalable and generally a great work ethic. Arabs in particular are very engaging, Iraqis especially. I've really liked all the Kurdish colleagues I've had and one Kuwaiti chap had just left us, one of the nicest people I've ever met. So smart and a huge interest in the history of others. I'm Irish and his knowledge of my country's history was excellent. I wouldn't feel too guilty about not helping Palestinians, most of us men are shallow things at 20.

What I know is that after a period of time...I think it is 70 years (more or less), history becomes available to everyone. The sad part is that students should have learned about this which includes the Holocaust in school. There are many things about our history that many people and especially if one is under 40 do not know about. History books have changed over time and has been replaced with ungodly stuff! Religion, Holocaust, Vietnam War, slavery, Native American, etc...have in a sense been erased from America's history. History has a way of repeating itself. We must never forget the past so that we will never repeat it!

The Putsch did not have a goal of reversing the 1918 revolution but perform another. They were not conservatives but transformationists. They disliked the German Empire and thought of the king as a cretin. Their crimes should not be falsely attributed to unrelated elements.

Thanks for the history! I didn't know about the Holocaust before (joke). In the 1973 ITV TV production of the tele-play "The Death of Adolf Hitler", an SS "doctor" comes to Hitler in the Bunker to ask Hitler to make him new head of the Red Cross and compliments Hitler on the human skin lamp Hitler has in his office. Hitler, not realizing what the lamp shade was, loses it really badly, lol. I'm sure its fictional but if you want to watch a really crazy and angry Hitler look for that one on DVD at E Bay,! About $10 I think, its got a lot of wild scenes with him and everyone around (like Eva).

They should also read about the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Amin Al Husseini’s ardent support for the Holocaust to understand how the current Middle East situation originated. Amin Al Husseini recruited three divisions of Muslims for the Waffen SS to eliminate Jews from Europe (including touring concentration camps with Heinrich Himmler in 1943). Post war he recruited SS and Gestapo veterans for Arab countries. The PLO were trained by SS veterans prior to the 1948 attacks on Jews in Israel.
