How cute is this for a mermaid blanket, perhaps? Handbag? Edging along clothing?

Thank you, Donna!! This is the best set of instructions I've ever seen! I so appreciated that you specified the type of yarn you used, and gave the number of the crochet hook you used. Even better is that you explained what you were doing at each step, specifying which stitch you used and how many stitches you skipped as you moved along. EXCELLENT!!!

Made an adult cocoon sweater with this stitch as the trim, and made many pairs of fingerless gloves with it as well. I also made a mermaid tale blanket for my granddaughter.

Hi, I just bought two pairs of sleeves with this pattern last week. Not cheap but lovely pattern and colours. Is there a way to create a triangle scarf with this? This would be amazing!

Yes, a triangle is possible! I'll have to put that on my to do list 😊

I followed this tutorial and I used the size hook that was recommended for my yarn (5mm for worsted weight yarn) but mine does not lay flat at all, the scales want to fold in on each other and it doesn’t look right stretched out. Should I increase or decrease my hook size to deal with this? I assume the issue is actually my tension but I have to work with what I can do repeatably, so I’d rather leave my tension as is and change hooks if that is a possible solution
@naztazia2 ай бұрын
If the scales aren't laying flat, it is most likely due to a tighter tension. Usually a looser tension will create larger stitches, which in this case would end up as flatter stitches. I would suggest trying a size K 6.5 mm crochet hook, and see if that at least gets the scales to go flatter. If it does, then either use that or slowly work down to a J 6mm or an I 5.5 mm to find the best one.
@s_shaddows.49392 ай бұрын
What hook are you using? I know you put some in the description but they don't look the same.
@naztazia2 ай бұрын
In this sample I'm using a 4.5 mm crochet hook, which seems to go along with the yarn I'm using.
@warrirornunluv8013 ай бұрын
Can it be used for amigurumi?
@naztazia3 ай бұрын
Absolutely! It's a good textured stitch pattern for making feathers, fish scales, even hair, etc.

Este vídeo é um tutorial passo a passo sobre como fazer o molde.
@acarleneamil2 ай бұрын
My scales don't lie flat like yours do. why is that do you think?
@naztazia2 ай бұрын
It might be because the tension is too tight. A looser tension usually makes them flat. The easiest way to ease up on the tension is to use a larger crochet hook, either 1 or 2 sizes up from whatever you are using now.
