That's a pretty weak excuse. Those "bad" screens happen all the time in current gen my player and I'm the one calling them not the CPU. They still happen in next gen because they didn't program them to set picks on players. They just act clueless and set a pick anywhere, even if it's not close to the guy you want to run into the pick.

It's not that they lose control, its that you can exploit this animation in 2k because there is no consequence for reaching in at the wrong time. I showed two examples of how in my career current gen it ruined my possession. A reach in foul is never called. People online abuse the reach ins like crazy.

I hate the reach in shit in nba 2k, everyone online just reaches in and gets stupid steals because the damn game is garbage. They make up for their lack of good defense with cheese like the reach in. Also the CPU cheats in superstar difficulty there players never get called for fouls and mine get fouls every damn time even if I belly bumped the center, its bullshit.

They plant their feet better in the next gen version. They also have a little bit of dribbling variety. Chalmers dribbles low to the floor and moves fast, while LeBron has that slow pacing himself cool dribbling. Curry dribbles like everyone else does in the current gen though. I'm not sure how many players have their own style of dribbling. We will have to wait and see more gameplay with different teams.

The same problem remains with defense recovering too quickly when it gets broken down. Pause the video at 1:50 and you'll see Chalmers suck Bogut into the paint leaving Bosh wide open in the corner. When Bosh gets the pass, Bogut's still inside the paint, and the only other player anywhere near him is Klay Thompson, who's standing just above the elbow. Yet somehow, before Bosh can start his shooting motion, both players are right there in his jersey...

at that part about the speed with lebron and bosh, when lebron starts to accelerate into a full sprint right at the end you can see that he is clearly pulling away from bosh. The issue was he stopped on a dime right after he started to sprint so it just looked like him and bosh were sprinting at the same speed, when really they were just jogging at the same speed

the screen problem is actually kinda realistic because irl some coaches prefer the pick and roll the way that the screen setter picks a spot and then the ball handler runs his defender in to the pick. that would make the pick and roll more challenging and realistic

true about the pick and roll. they should move into the player. but you can't leave room between you and pick. there is way to much space so the defender can just play regular d. I would like to see the Pick and Roll ran correctly.

you forgot the back court cheese.While playing online a player will wait for you to get right over the half court line and they reach in and that animation happens causing you to dribble slightly back into a back court violation.

Paused the video that speed difference you pointed out was dumb because Bosh and Lebron were pretty much next to each other and Lebron didnt start to actually turbo sprint until a few steps later then you see the seperation start to become apparent.

I'm usually a big fan of smoove and his vidz but this one killed my vibe. This was one of the most knit pickiest videos ever. I mean seriously they can only do so much to a game to improve it. You have to keep in mind that this is STILL a videogame therefore the CPU will never respond like real life. I personally think this is the best showing for 2k in a while. Graphics look good, crowd and bench actually looks engaged, and there were certain animations that are not present in current gen.

That reach in animation isn't that bad, irl you can reach for the ball forcing the player to protect the ball, it indeed will throw them off of their initial momentum. Smoove you keep speaking on losing control of your player during these moments of needing to catch their balance, that could be a blessing in disguise, imagine ur going right, holding right on the stick, and the defender impedes your progress slightly, if you are still holding right with full control, there will be endless to's

yeah J Smoove, they do pick a spot to set a pick at but its up to you to lead the defender into the screen, thats just the way its been

about the animation where you lose control and you are about to fall down. Say if the shot clock is going down. you should be able to pass it midway through the animation. its not like if this ever happens a person will still continue doing it. Another thing is that if that person reaches and you have the animation but you wanna pass but cant, it passes right after the animation is done. That gives the defender enough time to steal the ball which sucks

Timeout on the reach in you were to close to the defender, unless you're planning on turning you back to him, no one starts a last second play that close to a defender and expects not to get any contact from him, if he sat there and let you get a move off that would be fake... that's basketball 101

The Andrew Bogut pick at 5:24 makes me doubt this is entirely the case, that was a perfect screen set on the player. We can't seriously be throwing judgement after seeing less than a quarter of gameplay lol.

For the screen, it is the ball handler who is supposed to take the screen and it is not the man who set the screen who have to move, so the way it is on 2k14 is realistic

i agree about the screen though. Lebron didn't wait for the screen to be set properly. that's why if you look carefully, haslem shifts over a good foot to the left, but lebron is already gone. however, once it isn't used, haslem shouldn't stand there, as you said

One thing I really hate about Gameplay, is how often players dribble the ball of their foot or an opponents foot. You cant' even do a spin to the hoop with a great ball handler (like LeBron or CP3) without dribbling the ball off of someones foot.

Yes, but if you do a spin move at the right time like an amazing player like CP3 or Lebron does then it works. If you think about it, in real life those players might do a spin move to the basket once or twice a game where as when you play the video game you try and do it seven times hence increasing the chances of dribbling it off someones foot. I understand what you mean but you have to be very smart with the spin move and if you do it at exactly the right moment it works wonders.

the thing thats not looking good is the speed burst, bigs should be sprinting so fast and the passing is improved but you still get those weird looking passes and of course, rebounding... i have a feeling it's gonna be the same

It's is a moving screen foul on the offensive player if they set a pick on a player. It is the offensive ball handlers job to run his defender into an already set pick.

You gotta buy something to start up on. I probably wouldn't get next-gen 2k14 if I already had it on the 360, but as one of my first games on the console, why not? I can understand pricing stand point, but a lot of people enjoy being involved with a console from the start, even if that means playing the early releases

I always counter people's reach-ins online with a quick crossover. I usually leave them in the dust after that. No animation. I'm sure you know about that, Smoove.

the reaching in is annoying in 2k i've been saying for awhile that there should be some sort of counter for that...maybe if the defender makes a bad reach you can do a crossover in the opposite direction and blow by him

Hey Smoove i don't know if you notice but you right about the picks obviously you can see but if you see in the beginnin of the video the player sets pick and it actually goes to the player he wants to set a screen on but when the AI do it they just don't work so who knows great video tho

KG cheeses with his picks lol, but they should better place themselves. The 1st one by haslem was pathetic and the 2nd one by Bosh was too low so no contact was created. it was an absolute waste for the CPU to run that play since it did nothing at all.

He was actually running a lot faster than Bosh, it's just that Bosh was ahead of him to start with and a court isn't that long, so you can't gain too much distance.

I disagree with a lot of stuff you said: 1) Lebron tries to use the screen too early on the first play. 2) The reason why lebron didn't use the screen is because you are supposed to drive to force iggy back. and then dribble laterally to use the screen 3) the reason why deron williams reached is because you started dribbling on the spot right in front of him, so he reached (same with lebron and iggy) 4) you then dribbled straight into him, as opposed to around him, so he reached again.

if that were the case and if he went to the screen the right way , the ball handler would of clearly ran into defenders, when you watch the nba do pick and rolls they get right next to the defender so that may be organized ball your playing but its not how players in NBA do it...

And its bad enough the cpu bails you out everytime they reach. like u said if there is a bad reach at the same time a good crossover spin etc.....the defensive player shud do a animation or take longer recoverying from the bad steal attemp. fall...slip...lose balance...or turning in aue that the offensive player blew past. which wud make for more signature perks....like one dat keeps u from lookn dumb from reachn as to one boost ur chances of getn past a aggresive reacher.

I also agree that the reaching in thing is annoying! I play basketball 4 times a week at the gym and it is not realistic for someone to reach in while you are dribbling and you lose control of your entire body.

This is the same thing that occurred 8 years ago with the 6th Gen console games transitioning to 7th Gen. 2k6 on the Xbox 360 was basically the same as 2k6 on the Original Xbox. Same Problems, bugs, and glitches like the 6th Gen version. But as the years went on, 2k soon improved its gameplay! That's why I'm not worried about the issues that may be on the 8th Gen version of this game!

Yes it also happen in real life but in the game, there is no way to use it to your advantage ... you'll be stuck with the animation of loosing the ball, in 2K11 it was different, sometime the D was loosing control by failing to catch the ball and then it was easy for the offense to be open

Your expectations are getting a little too high in my opinion man! It's the screens are sometime set on spots irl, and it's the ball carriers job to run his man into the screen; sometimes the screen is set on a player like bogut did in the vid and wade. The reach in animation is pretty realistic, even though I agree it sucks, and if you do a cross before they try reach then there's that animation where you do an awkward cross but blow right past them. Rebounding definitely needs to be fixed tho

I don't know if it's because of the consoles, but on the pc I don't encounter the "screen setter" problem. The screener always adjusts to the ball handler. They don't just stand on one spot on the floor.

Speed and quickness really is a problem because lebron already had the head start and Chris was right behind him like they had the same ability and it wasn't just him, Haslem was striding to as if there close in speed as well..

Don't see a problem in speed in this clip. Bosh has a head start on LeBron who's stumbling trying to recover the ball. Even after that LeBron manages to gain a couple of steps on Chris by the end of the play.

Everyone stop saying you can't see what the teaser trailers showed! This is like 360p! With 1800p, you will see player's faces during gameplay. In 360p, of course you can't see next gen detail from that far!

My local Gamestop had this playable on the ps4 demo unit and I found the computer had a bit of a tendency to cheat. I was playing as the Heat vs the Spurs and at first I was making my shots inside the arch and in the paint but eventually my players weren't making any shots (They missed like three tip ins in a row off of the offensive rebound) and the computer couldn't miss a damn shot. Still picking this up though

it's only natural that during the last 5 secs of the shot clock the defender will pressure the ball. Just my opinion though

Everyone, don't pay attention to the graphics in this video. Smoove clearly informed that in the beginning of the video. Pay attention to the animations and the ai. I noticed that the transitions between dribbling animations is very smoothe and looks way more natural than the jerky transitions of dribbling animations in current gen 2k.
