I think your review is more than fair. NBA 2K has decent but very flawed gameplay that needs a lot of work. NBA 2K14 on PC is my go-to NBA 2K game. My favorite present day sports series is MLB The Show and baseball is nowhere near my favorite sport. For me, The Show checks all the boxes on how a modern day sports title should be. Too bad it is only a PS4 exclusive because I think a lot more people need to play it.

The G-League thing was in 2K10 and 11. Also, back when college hoops was a thing you could play 4 years of college and import the player to the game. I'll concede the franchise innovations though. Other than that nothing is innovative in this game. They definitely added commentary as well. Ironically they made most of the improvements and actual innovation to offline experience 🤣.

2k21 on both gens definitely the best 2k since 2k16, which I played for 2 years. Had 2k17 but I didn't hardly play it at all. 2k18 was so bad that they had no choice but to go up...Each 2k after that was an improvement each year & now they've finally caught back up with 2k21. I think in 2k18 they focused so much on The Neighborhood that they forgot about everything else

Great review 👏 The only thing I might disagree with is the score. I would actually bump it up to 7.5 out of 10, simply based on the sheer amount of content available in a sports game. Presentation is truly 2K's biggest strength, and I wholeheartedly agree that the majority of criticism is based on the online aspect of these games. Offline career alone is worth the purchase. On a side note, I also agree that 2K's focus on microtransactions continues to be a huge problem. The city is completely unnecessary, and only exists to push microtransactions. When 2K fails, it's almost ALWAYS because of decisions made on purpose. This game could easily be the greatest sports game ever made if they actually wanted it to be.

A lot of people expectations be too high and they're quick to call it trash when in reality it's a great game. “Let’s put the most effort on the least played game modes” is literally what I got from this. I’ve been playing 2k since 16, and there are haters every year, but it gets worse and worse every year. And that’s for good reason, because there are literally bugs that were in the game since 2k16, that are still in 2k21 next gen. It is abysmal how bad 2k is at fixing the bugs and glitches, especially when it’s gameplay related. But god forbid a VC glitch happens, cause they will ban you within hours and fix the glitch within hours too. It’s like their willingly want the game to be bad. I don’t understand it. They should’ve just made next gen have park and my team because that’s literally what 98 percent of people play, and the 2% that might be lost,m can easily be regained since they now charge 70$. The solutions are easy and feasible for 2k, but they just don’t want to do it.

The issues you mentioned with gameplay, and how the CPU behaves in game, can be fixed with the right sliders and settings. Although, it's frustrating that it's not tuned correctly out of the box.

Another great video! Thank you! Waiting to actually get the PS5 before getting NBA 2K21. Although the PS4 version is currrently $19.99. Game looks amazing. I played the demo and I can't buy a bucket to save my life. In practice mode I hit 95% of my jumpers, in game, I miss almost everything. I did play with legends, maybe the difficulty is higher with legends, IDK. Hopfully I do better with the full version of the game. I’ve been playing myteam this year. I think when people complain that it’s too cheesy and not realistic, they’re not taking in to account that the cards are so op with like 20 Hof badges. I played a ‘play now’ game today I found the game is really fun and realistic. It’s way better when you don’t have a team full of galaxy opal players. The micro transactions suck but overall this a really fun game with so many options and game modes, and I think 2k do a good job keeping the gameplay balanced with so many different types of gamers to keep happy.

I'm not much of a basketball person but decided to check out the 2k games because Madden has just been so bad. I was blown away of how far behind madden is compared what 2k is doing in their games. Football is my favorite sport and I just want a developer to create an immersive and realistic football game. It's made go back to the older maddens or nfl 2k5. Just wish there was competition for EA for football games. Interested to see what 2k does with the NFL game they are going to make soon. To me 2k21 looks awesome! The only things 2k16 has over 21 is AI and park. The servers were just as bad, myleague had less options, the game was super animation based, VC was just as big of a problem, and myteam had less options.

As a strictly franchise/offline/play with friends player I couldn't be happier with the game! At least 2K represents the game of basketball in an authentic way. You can't rain 3's with Shaq or do 360 windmills with Steph Curry unlike Madden where you can put punters at QB.

Disclaimer, I don't play basketball games. I've seen a lot of your other videos and you can be very harsh my friend. I love offline modes just like you and I love sports games, minus basketball but that's only because I'm not really into the sport. Seems like for the amount of praise you're willing to give it, you could have at least given it a 7, maybe even a 7.5. I get your frustrations bro but even retro games had issues with AI and animations. Keep up the good work though bro.

MyCareer isn’t pay-to-win IMO, you don’t need to spend any real world money to get to the same overall and badges as those that chose to speed up the process. Buying your overall to 85 is really just the equivalent of buying the full season pass on CoD instead of grinding it. MyTeam, though....
