This was actually a mode in an old NBA game called NBA 09: The Inside, but it was called Conquest Mode. One of the best features I've ever seen in an NBA game, idk why no one has attempted to bring it back.

This reminds me of the game mode called "Conquest Mode" in the NBA: The Inside game series in the PSP (Basically a PSP port of NBA:The Life), Except the concept is if the attacking team/state wins, they own that state and the starting 5 defending that state (and you can switch them up if you'd like before a round) and if the defending team/state wins then the defending team is allowed to pick which player will they take from the attacking team and which one from their own team they'll give up. (Basically a 1 on 1 trade). Also if 1 team is able to conquer 1 WHOLE DIVISION, they get a legend that cannot be traded. But they lose that legend if they lose 1 state from that division. It was such a fun and unique game mode.
