OG 'not in shape' seems crazy to anyone that has seen his strength, speed, athleticism on display much less his actual physique... but maybe he does need to make some amendments to his exercise, flexibility, recovery, and/or nutrition regimen... Like Giancarlo Stanton.

@@jamesmoore9636 there's no perfect answer .... that said prayer is not a better solution than possible amendments to flexibility training, yoga, swimming, recovery methods, changing up the weight routine, the nutrition, who knows ... I'm sure he has professionals that help him pinpoint his structural weaknesses and train against them, etc There is no perfect fool proof solution but there are 100% ways to train for greater prevention

It is one thing to overpay a player who is going to play 90+ (regular season plus playoffs) and another story to overpay a guy who never played 70 games per season. This is the real issue with OG

The knicks overpaid for OG, they could had have the same type of player at a cheaper price and at similar age (and a proven second best player of a championship team something OG never has proven), if they have traded for Andrew Wiggins, he is paid like 25 millions per season, he still plays elite defense like OG (even this season his worst, he was playing elite defense the last 3 months), is a proven elite playoffs defender (1 to 4), can score more points than OG (even this season his worst, still score similar average as OG, 14 pts per game), age factor Wiggins is only 2 years older, Wiggins is a better 3pt shooter (their last 4 season average, which is what matters)..... I can keep going, but I feel the Knicks will regret this contract in the future!

In his case the question is when he is healthy, not when he is getting injured. He never played more than 70 games. Assuming the knicks aspire to reach the ECF he should be able to play 90+ games. This is the problem.

at best a drastic oversimplification ... could just as easily be a recipe for more injuries ... and I seem to remember him keeping Joel Embiid off the block pretty well so his strength isn't the actual issue, it's his ability to stay healthy, and that could just as easily come from consistency, recovery, diet, sleep habits, etc

At the end of the day it's sports and business, OG should get whatever he can get from whatever team offers him a contract, these teams have to understand that signing OG is also a big risk due to his injury history.
