Yessir. Trae has been through so much adversity even before he was drafted. ESPN basically hates the guy for no reason ever since college because he was “small” by NBA standards and shot long threes, so he’s a “wannabe Steph” even though their play styles are totally different. Now he gets criticized all the time while Luka gets praised like he’s already been cemented as the next best thing since Jordan. Even the Hawks fanbase seems to have by and large turned against him talking about he should be traded even though he’s a walking 25/10 and led the team to the ECF in 2021. Three straight seasons averaging over 25 PPG and 10 apg, no other player is doing this right now. It’s baffling to me why Trae routinely gets raked through hot coals when he’s consistently been a top 15 player in this league. I just hope the Hawks can build a squad that can compete for and win a championship again. They got the #1 pick this season so hopefully that turns into a player that contributes. Trae deserves a shot. He’s a special player that works hard and is still trying to improve his game and do whatever it takes to win.
