Shawn Kemp started to mature and grow by the time the Sonics playoff run started. First having to go through Karl Malone, then Hakeem Olajuwon and an up and coming Rockets, and then MVP Charles Barkley in the WCF playing for a chance to compete in the NBA Finals. Shawn definitely got better as the competition became greater. Early signs of what was still to come over the next 3-4 years from the reign man in Seattle. Awesome upload!

From 93-96, Kemp was no less then the 3rd best PF in the NBA, behind Barkley and Karl Malone. I would say he was better than Barkley in the 95-96 season.

@@coreyrowe4119 Well you need to watch the 1979 WCF Suns vs SuperSonics! You think '93 was exciting? That series in late 70s was even better & didn't have a rigged Game 7 to get Barkley into the Finals vs Jordan for NBC ratings

This year I honestly thought the Sonics would've beaten the Suns and matched up with the Bulls in the Finals. We got that series 3 years later tho. I know ppl forget how great Chuck was but I feel ppl really forgot how good Shawn Kemp was. These Sonics teams were a threat from 92-98. Even the Payton/Vin Baker combo lead the Sonics to a 61 win season in 98.

Barkley actually put too much pressure on himself and the team to win the Championship that season. He also made sure to tell everyone about it! He played great but it's like the air went out of the balloon for Phoenix after '93.
@Riles31524 ай бұрын
I think they had a solid chance to win it all in 95. We’re up 3-1 against Hakeem and Houston, a team that they should have beaten, but couldn’t quite get that one more victory in games 5 and 7 at home. If they get past those guys, I think they could’ve beaten San Antonio in the WCF and Orlando in the finals.
@j-short5431Ай бұрын
@@Riles3152 unfortunately for the 95 Suns they put their faith in Danny Manning, staying healthy. And they should’ve won that game three against the Rockets to go up 3-0 but Barkley absolutely choked at the free-throw line
